Mumford & Sons were absolutely brilliant.

The concert was spoiled slightly by really poor organisation. They were trying out this new "cashless card" which was supposed to make buying and selling of food and drinks so much easier but they obviously over-estimated how much time they'd save because the queue for a soft drink was over half an about and the queue for a beer was almost an hour. Pathetic! If you were patient enough to stand in a queue that long for a drink then the queue for the toilets later was also about half an hour.

Apart from the amateurish organisation, I must say that Mumford & Sons themselves were unbelievably good but the ending was a bit disappointing. To end the concert they did a collaboration with some Senegalese chap who wasn't quite up to the same standard (to put it mildly) so they didn't really end with a bang. I think they normally end their show with "The Wolf" from Wilder Mind which is a really great up-tempo track but we left with the echoes of a rather weak production of Senegalese chanting and bongo drums.   

 Over an hour to get your alcohol fix!!! The delirium tremens must have been kicking in big time. I can see why you were peeved. Hallucinations are a common  tremens side effect....are you sure there was a chap from Senegal there, it sounds a bit far fetched to me.

Pity about the few negatives but Mumford were always going to be a hit.
At least you have taste in music unlike some old plonkers on here.
I saw Hozier on Friday he was awesome but the support act were pathetic 

Geez Dave, it could have taken you half an hour to get your burger. Good miss. As for old plonkers , I think in most representative groups you and the AA escapee would easily qualify. 

 Picture this.....ou Rooitjie so close yet so far from getting a beer that would stop the quivering of his bottom lip his now purple face and trembling hands not to mention the ache that has parched his mouth and greyed his lips. It could so easily have been avoided if he'd accepted professional advice. Here's my advice next time you're out.....pack in some peanut butter sandwiches and soft drink and stay off the dop.

For those people who don't know Moffie, when he talks about his "high class" years, he's talking about all those year's he's sat hunched over his keyboard with his eyes out on stalks and his fingers hovering over the keys waiting for someone to engage him in his pitifully childish little flame wars where he calls another poster "fat" or "drunk" or "stupid" or "poor" or whatever spiteful little altercation he's having while effectively doing the cyber equivalent of sticking out his tongue and saying "nyaah nyaah nyaah I'm rich and intellerjint and I drive a MakClarrin (sic) and you don't!"

That is what the pathetically childish old fop considers to be "the high class" years.

The bloated old windbag can brag about his education, his salary, his large (yet extremely tacky) house, the jobs he's had, the companies he's run into the ground and his garage full of "Pawshers and MakClarrins" . . . but he remains the most insecure and attention-seeking loser I think I've ever encountered.

As for the whole you're fat and short vs you're old discussion, I have made it very clear, very often, that I find the whole thing very petty! I have in no way de fended Saff.

And the truth is I enjoyed my Suzuki GSXR 1000 at 13000 revs even more and any kid with a half way decent job can buy one of those. Sadly a few years back the family forced me to give up on the fast bikes.....anxious to preserve those last 10 years.....hahaha.

 I have still not outgrown the whole superbike thing. Luckily my wife has made peace with that part of my life. So for now I can enjoy it! I have always said if I die on the bike...i die happy! 

 I've buried the bike monster for 12 years already, but I get the urge to get one again ever so often. When it's in your blood...

 Sorry but this is too funny. So Rooi.....when I think about your low class years I think of what it means to be stuck in that asshole backyard of JHB. A sad sorry loser who's got nothing to show for spending his life behind a desk but who's made a success of sounding like a sad, bitter and belligerent misery. To add to your envy and jealousy I suggest the unit I own in Long Street is worth twice the hovel you're still trying to pay off.  

Hi Denny, I met a forum friend for beer on 2 occasions. Both times in Long Street. Not 5 Star, but enjoyable all the same.

 Same here Draad, 3 stars or 5 stars doesn't bother me....don't know the places you mention as none of the restaurants and pubs in Long Street appealed to me although further along I think it's Kloof Street we found a nice one where we enjoyed Kabeljou. Didn't stray much to the top end of Long Street where most of the restaurants are located as our unit is closer to Strand Street right next to Eagle Electric. But hey things can change, I hope to be in CT end of next year, maybe sooner, perhaps you can buy me a beer....won't twist your arm though
ps Just had a look at the Beer House - street view...it looks familiar....is it nearer to Strand Street on the opposite side of Eagle Electric?...geez it's been 8 years since we've been back

 Deny, it's on the upper end, near Kloof Street's start. Both places are lose to each other on opposite sides of Long. BTW, while studying, I stayed in a hostel in Kloof Street, opposite of Jan van Riebeeck Primary School. Saasveldt Koshuis...some sort of lodge these days and the mess is/was a restaurant these days. Good old days. These days I don't want to be any place near Town after dark.

 PS, will gladly buy you a beer if the possibility presents itself.

Thanks, like I said it's been a while since I've been over but I think there's a very similar looking pub  nearer to Strand Street. I attended Harold Cressy which is right opposite the Roeland Street jail,not too far from yours. Harold Cressy was the first non white to attain a BA degree hence they named the school after him.
