Sorry if I upset you. I was trying to put this discussion on hold by leaving it to the authorities to decide on the issue. Also said I trusted them to do the correct thing.
Did Blackadder not lodge a complaint against Bryce Lawrence reffing last year? I believe he did - and the game he complained about was the last game Lawrence reffed on Super 15 level - was it not? I mentioned this as an example of refs being put on what I call cooling off periods - nothing more. Lawrence had a terrible refereeing record and was taken off the IRB panel and eventually taken off the Sanzar Panel as well and promoted by the NZ Board to educate young refs coming through. Hope he does better in his present position - but doubt it very much

I do not think all NZ referees are bad. I have seen Jackson reffing a number of games - and he did not make any glaring mistakes, I do not think referees should be the key discussion after matches - they are normally in the wrong in such an event. So Jackson with his career as a referee in mind - would be extra careful in future as well.
It is more than likely that Craig Joubert - recognised universally as the top referee in world rugby - is reserved to ref the final - so we are unlikely to see him before then.

Boklogic and co, Kirwan asks for a system similar to the NRL where the refs performance is reviewed after each game, not just kiwi refs but all refs. These posts though seem to add to SA posters view of NZ rugby, that our refs cheat, the IRB is kiwi bias, that any great player we have cheats, that PI players are poached from the Islands, etc, etc all at detriment to SA rugby. There seems to be a view that SA rugby is lily white and untouchable who suffer also from politics, quota requirements, top players always being injured (even though there is a "deep" pool of talent), crap coaches, which explains why they aren't number 1 in the world. Some SA posters have a total disregard for NZ rugby despite the fact that a nation of 4 million is able to produce world class talent continuously and has the most feared rugby team on the planet.

Cleancut if you point out which part was derogatory would be glad to clarify. Nothing I said has not been written on this forum by SA posters regarding the AB's and to that effect the Boks. I understand this is a SA site and "you say, I say" but if you want derogatory and down right racist take a gander at Boklogics last post. Pretty brave behind that keyboard.

Spooony didn't quite get your scrambled poly and beans but............anyway would welcome the proof you have, if legit am big enough to admit I'm wrong. Boklogic why the hell would we want to talk shit, except for the occasional diversion would rather talk rugby....on a rugby forum.....like this one. However I now see why you put out the "Maori" remark, the "sweep and suck" comment was provocative and though we are both kiwi's Poi e in all fairness it was a little heavy handed and unnecessary. The banter is expected and I know I have been drawn into verbal sparring that descended to new lows, so now try to stick to rugby...its what we're here for. So a rare apology to Boklogic, if the comment was knee jerk to provocation.

Now back to basics - the Blues player was nuts to do what he did - but the question remains ans that relates to the conduct of Pollock as referee.
Lers face facts - Pollock himself said he had a bad day at the office in both the Lions test and the game on Saturday. What I foresaw was a cooling off period for him - so he is out of the refereeing picture for the remainder of the Super series and unlikely to referee tests till much later. He will be allowed to rebuild his refereeing career - and will be phased back in to allow for just that.
I basically agree to what is apparent - namely an opportunity to get back his career on track. He would probably start in the process during the ITM and then see how he develops from there. The problem is that he had his "poor games at the office" so early and so publicly - so it will take a while to rectify the situation. In consolation Dickerson also started badly and he got over the problem and was a reasonably good referee later on in his career.
I believe a good referee is someone who managed a game and immediately afterwards everybody forget about who refereed an actual game and judge the game on merit. That means a referee is to be firm and uncontroversial during the game and does not steal the spotlight from the players. That is the ultimate for every referee to strive to achieve.
