So we have had 7 RWC winners......NZ 87&11....Oz 91&99...Boks 95&07 and Eng 03.

So how do we rank these wins? Two factors are fairly obvious. The WCs,  without the Boks a 40 per cent winner, are not as complete. Also a home win can't be as good as an away win. Within similar categories one has to consider opposition.

So to me this is the ranking.

1 Poms 03

2 Oz 99

3 Boks 07

4 Boks 95

5 Oz 91

6 NZ 11

7 NZ 87

The Poms in 03 were an awesome team, experienced and tough. They beat a very good Aussie team in the final. So they rank ahead of the Oz and Bok wins in England.

But the famous Bok win at home in 95 ranks ahead of the Oz win in 91....at home, but against a fearsome AB team vs a pre Bok win away for Oz.

If you wanted to reward drama and significance though, the Bok win in 95 has to be tops. After all, they made a movie about it.

I agree that it probably takes more skill and mental strength to win the RWC away from home but purely for what it meant for South Africa, I think for me at least, the 95 World Cup win is top for me.
The pom 03 win was pretty special too, with the Wilkinson drop goal drama. This one RWC 15 will be massive though, either a NH team wins it and it will be huge or one of the three SH giants win it and become the most successful world cup outfit so far. I can't wait!

Can the Poms join the repeat club.....or will one of the SH giants break out of the pack? The two best finals were in 95 and 03.
