The Bulls and Lions are playing terrible rugby. Some of their players are not SuperXV standard, and neither is the coaching.
It looks like the Sharks and the Stormers are the only teams that are going to score enough tries to win games.

There are problems in the Bulls and Lions teams.   In the Bulls team the problem is at scrummie - where Hougaard should play - at no 8, no 6 and at no 5.   There center pairing also malfunctioned this week.
It is hard to identify the problems in the Lions team.   Last year their scrumming were their strong point - this year it was iffy yesterday.   Boshoff is iffy and their center pairing also not the hottest.
In the Sharks team I would rather see Thomas du Toit starting now that Bea st is not available and Mthembu is a problem at  8.   Their center pairing is a serious problem at this stage.
Lambie read the conditions yesterday like it is unbelievable and the team should be grateful for a massive contribution by him.   There strong points remain Lambie, Pieter-Steph du Toit,  Marcell Coetzee and Reinach.

Puleeze...if Morne  made all those dumb cross kicks you would have been up in arms Mike. But Lambie had to be a bit better this week...the opposition was weak. Last week Sarel Pretorious was the best half back on the park....and stepped Lambie out of his socks to set up a try.
This is the usual Natal propaganda....Lambie, Raainacht, Stephanie and Coetzee.. The most popular guppies...all flat track bullies. Away in NZ you won't hear a peep from them.

I agree their has been lots of opportunity around the rucks for Hougaard's sniping runs. Also some passes around the rucks for Bulls forwards to run onto. The Bulls need to dominate the advantage line with front foot ball, before they become a threat.
One thing though is that many of the SA team have reinforcements arriving from Japan, who hopefully are still playing well.

Mozart
Puleeze - you are talking crap again and that after all the pleas to you to be objective.  When you are disappointed about the fact that the players you dislike perform better than your favourites you go bananas.
Fi rst of all - Lambie read games and made kicks - which proved to be very effective.  Morne cannot read games and will never be a successful flyhalf - comprehende?  By the way Sarel Pretorius is not a flyhalf - so do your homework before writing crap.
Secondly - so some players now are "flat track bullies"  - what a joke.    Is it because Matfield at 105 kgs can do nothing to assert himself in games - so he is being bullied???

Oh boy now Hougaard has to be moved back to scrummie where he bumbles....vs leaving him on the wing where he is just showing a bit of form for the first time in 2 years. Could this all get any sillier.
And Mike half back is scrum half or flyhalf you dolt.

Mozart is breaking our decency agreement big style - starting with his personal insults again.    But I will not respond in kind.
The one-incident chap at it again.   Whenever he gets cornered a single incident becomes career-defining if it is negative for a player he dislikes.  In the rare case of a player he likes and the incident is positive - we hear about that one for the next year.
If players had an outstanding game - as Lambie had today - then all else is ignored and back to an incident the previous week to try end prevent too much damage to the Mozart prejudice system.   Why not just be fair and say - yes Lambie had a good game yesterday -  without the addition of bully boys and what not?

Lambie has not impressed me much lately but in my opinion he did play the conditions well. There was no other way to get the ball quickly to the wings.
Give some credit to Chadwick who scrummed very well last night.
SP is a problem, Odwa is a better fullback.
To score 4 tries in those conditions was a very good effort. The last time I saw rain like that was that WC semi final back in 1995.

Maybe I was influenced by the weather conditions under which the Sharks played the game -  Lambie handled tthose like a real pro and contributed massively to the Sharks win.   I think on the day Pollard and Lambie was on par and one could go either way.
I would grant you that JJ may have been better than Mapoe - the choice were severely limited in respect of the 13 position.

I tend to agree with you about Koch - after all he was the MOM in the game against the Blues.  A tough cookie that one - he gave Woodc ock a real workover and the latter is an All Black prop - not that that means much.
There is not much to choose between Reinach and Groom - but I went for Reinach because of the atrocious conditions the game was played in and his handling of the ball under those conditions was outstanding.

 Cry me a river Dave.
Even though Jannie did have a good game he was spared against playing against Schalk van der Merwe as he is injured. Also has to be noticed the difference in scrummaging could be attributed to Giant Mtyanda's contribution. The way Koch is playing he could get into the RWC squad.

Well you have to be a complete idiot to conclude that JJ was awful and a lost cause at 13. It's just childish and has stuff all to do with reality and serves more than anything to dent any credibility you might have had.
Pathetic

He's fast but doesn't know how to use his speed in the position, he's also a weak tackler and doesn't have the correct instincts to be able to thrive there.
He had a good season in 2013 but since then has been putting in poor performance after poor performance. Just goes to show form is temporary, class is permanent.

JJ did show good centre play with his running line to setup Hatting for the match winning try. He stepped back inside before s traightening to draw the last line of defence, before offloading a perfect pass at exactly the right moment. Unfortunately Hatting was a complete dummy carrying the ball in the wrong arm as well as not diving earlier to go in lower.

Ah so the fact that he gained more metres than any other centre on the day, beat a defender and made a clean break plus set up Hattingh for that try, you conclude what you did about him - how stupid are you.

To confirm just how stupid you are, you are still going on about his defence when in fact he was one of if not the best defending centre in the whole of the S15 last year and made 9 tackles missing 1 last Sat.

Maybe you should try wake up to the present and try judge the guy on the now and not be stupid enough to conclude he is weak defensively based on the miss on Barritt or something of the like, for the stats certainly don't back your crap up regarding JJ in defence.

JJ outplayed Conrad Smith last weekend and that's a fact, much like he did in the test match and S15 that year.

For one who ignores others use of stats then uses them himself, it's quite weak...
He might have made his tackles, the problem lies in him being weak so he nearly always get's pushed back behind the gainline giving the opposition momentum.
As I have said many times, I don't take much out of stats as they miss too many contexts to make the best judgement.

Where do I ignore stats......if you want to challenge me be a little more respectful by not lying.

So now JJ is weak is he......geez your stupidity is reaching greater heights by the day....what a load of crap.

I see stats for what they are......and what I saw of JJ was a useful contribution, certainly a better one than the rest of the centres on display on the day.

Your judgement is based on some pathetic childish prejudice against the player which smacks of rugby ignorance

Grow up Dave, I'm not dropping down to your level and go off topic to try and find an example where you've ignored others use of statistics in one of your many arguments. Calling me a liar is also pretty pathetic...
JJ is very weak and isn't agile as shown when he butchered a near certain try against Italy by not getting low enough when he dived for the try line.
Nonu was the best center on the day.
I have no prejudice against JJ, I say it how it is, think you've forgotten my support of JJ throughout 2013 and how I didn't hold JJ accountable for Barretts try at Ellis Park (Morne's and De Villiers were at fault).

How good has Koch been so far this year? very impressive. Stormer's scrum a real weapon right now.
Bismarck looked rested and full of energy. He was long overdue for that as he was fading last year. I hope his playing time is managed this year, along with the other Boks - especially Vermuelen who played a ton of rugby last year. Would really torpedo our WC hopes if he was to get hurt.
13 is going to be a real question mark for the Boks again this year. De Jong has been and continues to be our best specialist 13. Anyone playing there for the Boks is going to be a converted wing, fullback or inside center shoehorned into the role. I would hope we could find someone to do a capable job, but its not JJ.

I am very vary of having De Jongh in the Springbok team - the last time he was used at 13 in the team for two tests - he went absent from the game and his contributions could be equated with what a bench player would achieve if he was on the fields of play for ten minutes.
De Jongh is a problem case - he looks good as a finisher if somebody puts him into space - but his defense is seriously defective.   He is physically too small to be competitive in rugby games anymore.

We may see a surprise selection of Jessie Kriel at 13 for the Boks. Apparently JJ may be out this weekend, and the talk is about shifting Kriel to outside centre for the Bulls.
Apparently he is equally comfortable in many positions in the backline, although that remains to be seen at SuperXV level.

Mostly agree Clevermike - I hope we can find a better solution for our Bok 13 than DeJong and wasn't advocating his automatic inclusion although I think he would hold his own. Was just making the point that in my opinion of all the players we have that currently specialize in the position, he is the best. I don't think the expected WC playing conditions favor his strengths though.
If I had to guess I think De Allende will end up playing 13 for the Boks, but its not his natural or "best" position either and some of the quickness and pace in the outside channels from other teams could prove problematic for him.

Jesse Kriel was better at 13 than his brother was (Which is Danny Kriel's preferred position).
Koch has all the attributes to be a top class tighthead and I hope that Malherbe doesn't walk straight back into the Stormers starting 15 as I haven't ever seen a performance by him match that of Koch's past 2 matches.

SB - would be interesting to see how he goes at 13. Certainly has the speed and the step to play the position. He would really need to make a statement to break into Meyer's plans at this stage of the game.
