SA Team of Round 8

The following is my team of SA players this week:-

I took into account the relative strength of the opponents - for instance both Smith and Mtawarira played opposite players who have had test experience - while Marais was in a game with very poor opposition.      
    

Marais has scrummed against Malherbe, Coenie and Marcel and taken them to the cleaners, so your point about poor opposition is rather feeble. He couldn't do more than destroy his opponent, as he has every week.

Get some brains - it is the team of the week and you came up with utter BS about previous matches.   The comment is what happened this Round - not past rounds.

Smacks of bias favouritism if you ask me. 

 Something else for you to consider, Comrade ... a true Bok is one who's consistently playing well ... week in ... week out ... not good one week and nowhere to be seen the next.
Also ... regarding your comment to Mozart ... Lomp played against a bunch of Super rugby newbies ... poor opposition ... did you take that into consideration when you chalked his name down??

With respect Labuschagne is still one of the best loosies in SA.   His stats on Saturday was as follows:
Try Scored                   -     1Ball Passed                   -     7Ball Carried                   -    10Meters Gained               -    52Clean Breaks                 -     3Turnovers Conceded       -     1Tackles made                -    11
The only potential alternative is Jaco Kriel and his stats were as follows:-  
Ball Passed                   -     6Ball Carried                   -    10Meters Gained               -    55Defenders Beaten           -     5Turnovers Conceded       -     1Tackles made                -     7Missed Tackles              -     1Penalties Given Away      -     3
It was close between the two players, but -
*   the try scored by Labuschagne;*   the better defensive stats of Labuschagne; and*   better discipline displayed by him,
was the decisive factors in my selections.
There is one issue I take particular interest in insofar as loosies are concerned and that is tackle ball protection.  Labuschagne is by some distance the best loosie insofar as that component of the game is concerned and that was the situation again on Saturday. 
I was very critical of Jesse Kriel over the last few weeks - but he did perform much better on Saturday.  Mapoe had a relatively poor game on Saturday compared to Kriel.
This is not an overall assessment of players in the series - it is just based on what happened the latest round.   I base it on cold facts - no favouritism.

IMO u shouldnt take into account the opposition that players face.
regardless of opponents test status and reputation, a player vying for a place in a team of the week should only be judged by his performance as a whole.
it gets to hard and tricky trying to quantify the value of an opposition and then factoring in a players performance against that opponent.
but if u just judge that player by his performance alone regardless of opposition, then u will IMO get a fair team of the week,
