And replace him with who? There is no foreign or not who is better than him.

We'd have much better of yesterday with Du Preez than Hougaard.
30 Nov 2014, 18:40#4
We would have done better playing with14 on the park without Hogat

Oh what utter crap how pathetically ignorant to blame Hougaard who was on the field for all of how many minutes? Wow let me guess his tap and kick into touch c ost us the game did it, excusing the pathetic team performance as a whole.
Blaming Hougaard is not only ignorance of the highest order it's fucking childish.

Shez you are speaking crap......Mallett, Venter, R assie and Swys are all better than Meyer and any S15 Kiwi coach would be better than Meyer.
I'd go with a Kiwi just like Ireland and Wales have. Sack useless Meyer he is an insult.

Not sure that much can be completed before WC 2015 as far as getting the Boks up to speed,
But I do think that Meyer has screwed up thus far with his selections but the big question is will he or can he change at this stage or are we doomed to a poor showing at the WC.
Lets hope he has some plan up his sleeve that he has not played yet.
But I honestly do not think he has what is required to motivate or lead the Springboks to win WC 2015.
Lets trust that he proves me wrong.

As you did not watch the game I will tell you, he was on for 20 along with all the other young guns. In that 20 we were at our worst. It was not only the tap and kick into touch but also foot into touch down the RHS I think, a pathetic up and under gaining about 5m and giving away possetion and the cherry on the top fumbling around for the ball at the 5m scrum with 2 mins to go. So no it is not just the kick but playing a quarter of the game his contribution was only negative.

The young pop guns are a sure path to disaster. Why would the halfback duo that failed in the S15 semi, suddenly do the business in tests. A foolish notion.
Keep HM...let him choose the best players....lose the young pop guns.

I don't know of anyone who would want to coach the Boks, SARU won't go for a foreign coach and they wouldn't want to get involved in our politi cs
30 Nov 2014, 20:45#11
Venter is with the Sharks and I'm not to sure he would want the Bok jobs as he likes being in the background. Rassie is already involved with SARU and Mallet is definitely not better than Meyer. Neither is Swys or any New Zealand Super rugby coach.
None of those coaches have won Super rugby. Also not to forget that he practically made the Bok 2007 RWC team...

Aren't all Bok coachesb supposed to be at least 1.8 metres? seeing over the scrum is part of the job description.

hahahaha good one Moz.However Meyer has certainly not distinguised himself this year with some very poor selections. The mind boggles at some of them and I excluse quota picks.

HM is hampered by much poorer player options than in 2007 and 2011. He also has to accommodate social constraints, much as Jake did. It's a tough job, but he is doing it professionally with honour. He needs a backline coach, but he needs to stay.

Well we will continue to fail under Meyer so I would have no issue sacking him right now. Instead of progressing he is regressing.
We have more talent than ever. We have never had the depth of class talent we have right now. Meyer is wasting this talent and selling us down the river right now.
Imagine selecting Matfield over Willemse or calling up Ross Cronje as a back up 9?

DA Meyer to be fair has a dysfunctional rugby system to deal with. BUT he has also compounded matters and faled to take the opportunities to build his squad properly over the last few years. Star players play every match and nobody else gets a look in.
02 Dec 2014, 09:59#27
The first thing Meyer needs to do is to have his hollow cranium stuffed with a living, fully functional brain.
Then things should start going a little better.
Till then ANY replacement will be an improvement.
02 Dec 2014, 12:49#29
So I take it then that you don't think a lobotomy would help the man gain clarity?
Are you kidding me?
He needs all the help he can get.
I was going to suggest Dave but he'd play Jantjies at 10 and that would have me look for the nearest bridge to jump off of.

Disagree Meyer has no excuses....there is no excuse for selecting Matfield. He might have quota issues but there are more than enough quality players of colour to fit any quota bill. These guys are not quota players:
Kolbe, JP, Habana, Hendricks, Rhule, Senatla, Mapoe, Mvovo, Skosan, Volmink, Sithole, Mnisi, Jantjies, Coleman, Luithers, Paige, Beast, Nkanyane, Cayleb Oosthuizen, Scara, Mbonambi, Oupa, Mtembu, Kolisi and Carr.

You have to be a tough guy to soldier on through all the BS. In the old days the provincial feuds were bad enough, but now the political element hovers over every coach. Mallett, Destroyli, the guy we had for about half a year, and PdV cracked under the strain. Rassie couldn't even take the heat at provincial level.....he scampered off to a staff job.
Being a leader in this environment is no picnic. Jake and HM have the resolve. That's where it ends. It's a far better solution to support these coaches than to deep six them.Eddie Jones was an important plus in 2007. HM could do with a similar injection of world class smarts.
But make no mistake, in HM we have a stable, rugby savvy guy, with decent principles. We can build on that, we can also do a lot worse.
03 Dec 2014, 10:13#37
Yeah right!!!!
Conjuring excuses doesn't change the fact that he's incompetent.
He should do the right thing and resign now ... and while he's at it, take Victor with him.
