Rugby will just become like football. The owners of clubs will just be billionaires that have inherited their fortunes, and they will buy rugby teams as toys, not to make a profit but just to win tournaments.
I hate football players, and the same thing could happen to rugby players. If this happens our best players will all play abroad.

It's a disgrace and will be the ruination of NH Rugby.

Why? And while we're at it, why don't you Poms innitiate a salary cap for lawyers, doctors and CEO's of major companies as well. Why stop there, put a cap on how much you can ask for property when you sell it on the open market as well. Let me know in 6 months how it's working, so I can convince the corrupt SA G overnment to follow suit.

I'll tell you why.It will bankrupt Clubs, the lower Leagues will not be able to compete and Grass Roots Rugby will dry up completely. Our Clubs will be completely full of SH mercenaries, as if it isn't bad enough now.
So, personally, I am more concerned about my own Country and the Clubs here than I am about yours. That is what concerns me most.I do not want a Club owned by a bunch of SA's crippling the game here to suit themselves, thank you very much. And there are plenty more here who do not want to see us go the way of France.European Rugby has already had a detrimental effect on the game here, this could be the death knell.

Becs, I understand and it gripes me a bit more that SA loses so much players to the Euro and the Pound...and the Yen, but it is a professional sport and as such it is a business and should be treated as all other businesses in which ever country it does business. Plain and simple. I agree with you that rugby players get to work abroad a bit easier than engineers for example, but to be fair, it should be the broader laws of the country that should define such issues. Salary cap is not the way to do it. That's treating the symptom and not the disease.

I agree with Becs. Put a salary cap on players firstly becasue NH dont deserve such high pay. Secondly we dont wan t NH parasites plundering our talent. They must learn to satnd on their own feet. Thanks!

No, you do not understand the way the game works here, Draad. Our Junior Clubs will not be able to cope with the changes this would bring and would die out. These Clubs should still feed our Leagues in a large capacity. We should not ship in foreigners all the time. Our National team will die and why should it ? Just to provide your players with pension pots ? No thanks !
Oh and most of the Clubs are against it.....you may also be pleased to know that Saracens and Bath are being investigated for breaching the Cap and will be docked points and be possibly fined, if they are found guilty. So how strange that Saracens want to dispense with the Cap just now ? Call me cynical.....
