I think that the Player of the Year award is signed and sealed. Habana will get the award - and there is no chance that McCaw will feature at all. There are still four tests left this year for each of the teams - but at this stahe there is no chance that Habana can be overtaken. Like they say in horse racing parlance - 100 meters to go and Habana is ten lengths clear of the nearest opposition.
Sasue - Just a bit of needling
@clevermike,
LMAO, :P
i think u know i disagree with this, especially with the EOUT still to be played, i remember when du preez was miles ahead of everyone in 2009 on the back of a good TriNats campaign, but then they went on their 2009 EOYT and had a shocker, racking up losses to ireland, france, saracens, lecister and im pretty sure the barbarians??? or was that 2010???
but anyways it does raise some interesting questions about who would win if it was decided tomorow, i do say that habana would be the Boks one and only candidate, while McCaw would be NZs.
its a pity SBW chose to go to japan, cos he would have won it hands down had he continued to play rugby in NZ.
stats dont paint the complete picture, but they do portray more then a general outline in the matter andi couldnt help myself and wanted to compare the two players with every test theyve played in 2012.
Pos T/A Pts K/P/R MR CB DB OL TO Tack LO Pen Y/R W Habana 6/0 0 5/12/52 431 7 19 2 10 18/4 0/0 5 0/0
the main thing i got from these stats is that they have both been doing their job and doing it well, habana making the breaks out wide and scoring tries. while McCaw is doing all the hard yards in the collison area and has been a defensive behemoth.
i was surprised at how effective habana was, but the more i thought about it, i realise i shouldnt have been, but there was one stat that wasnt recorded here but was at OZ sports data and that was McCaw had 7 pilfers while habana had 2, but what give McCaw the edge in my post other then the obvious fact hes my hero and can do no wrong in my eyes??? the 100% winning record that goes with his 2012 stats, unlike habanas 50% beside his one, lolz, :oP
Sasu
I am afraid that 100% record is going to take dive on Saturday - hope it is no too bad a dive!!!!!
i am surprisingly erlaxed and without nerves, with a quiet confidence my saffa friend says is very smug, LMAO, :P
im very excited about this weekends match mikey, and the All Blacks need 3 more victories to get the record for the most consecutive wins, and with the inaugral IRC locked up, plus every trophy bar the JRC all locked up in the NZRU trophy cabinet and that IRB No1 ranking of course, All Blacks now have a new goal and they wont let anyone get in their way.
im carefully and meticulously planning my weekend, heinekens and port have been benched and calling on good ol steinlargers, the official beer of the All Blacks and a nice bottle of jack daniels to help with the festivities.
drinking will start late at around 9pm, so that come 1am in the morning, we will be ready to rock and roll, so maybe a nap in the afternoon with some bantering with the locals on sarugby, to rpep the body.and a nice bbq for dinner, so we will be completely ready.
now i ask u mike, if this is the kind of detail the fans have planned a week out from the game, what are the All Blacks planning for anyone who threatens their 100% record,,,,,if i was a saffa, a shiver would have just gone down my spine, lolz. :D
Sasu
Letme say - I am as confident as you are - but I am nonetheless glad you stocked up enough to drown your sorrow after the game. LOL
