Early on in the England game but carried on playing and had to come back onto the field for the last 15min Ouch - but I guess there was no way he was coming off the field so he just pushed on through the pain barrier

Orrie would have been back on the pitch, so even someone with a broken rib and a 14-man red-carded team would be better

Shows you his grit, I think I saw that tackle when he was carrying around the 5 meter line, had one tackler around his ankle which turned his body and and he got smashed from the side that he actually bounced sidewise.

Probably realise why a dumb muscle like Wiese is so valuable. He just knows how to carry the ball up, even it is just for 5 cm, he will do it all day.

There is a good clip of Wiese from a Leicester fan that calls him he transporter. Just carries the ball all game.

It might not be pretty for fans to watch, but it serves a purpose, just like Damians direct running. Draws in players, forces them to tackle and about 3 or 4 defending players going to ground which then have to jump back up and get back in line.

I saw a great analysis how Ireland targeted a new Zealand prop with their ball carries, the guy had to make about 5 tackles in a minute and in the end just didn't have the strength left to tackle the ball carrier backwards.

So it is energy sapping having to bring a big hard player down

The game plan that Rassie has is more expansive and attacking. He now has the players to do this. Roos appears to fit the bill for the type of rugby that Rassie wants the Boks to play. He is a superior play to Wiese. Has a good rugby brain and has the pace and grunt one looks for.

Erasmus has players throwing it around to the wings, as per the usual, hoping for free space. If any resistance is encountered it all falls apart. It's players like Wiese who provide the platform. We don't have many of those kinds of players. He is our only assured carrier into traffic and statistically one of our top 3 defenders. Roos looks like he has skills at domestic level, but we haven't seen anything of that at test level. He was knocked back a few times against England, just as he was against Wales. I do not begrudge him more chances, the jury is out on him, but he does not show the signs of a Bok great. Too much hype far, far too soon.
