Selection complications . . .

FR managers picking their teams for the 1st two rounds are probably going to have to take a shot in the dark.

Rounds 1 and 2 both have Thursday fixtures which will be played at 10h45 and 12h30 respectively. Bearing in mind that most teams are only announced on a Thursday, this will in all likelihood mean that FR managers are going to have to finalize their teams before many of the starting XVs are announced.

I'm guessing the Friday games (Highlanders vs Chiefs and Reds vs Sharks on 24 Feb and Chiefs vs Blues on 3 March) will have teams announced and we might get lucky and have the Australasian teams for Saturday announced on the Thursday morning before kick-off, but I can't see us getting all the Australasian starting teams or any of the SA lineups before the round starts.

Probably a good idea to pay a bit extra and select players who are sure to start in those cases.

 The fixed rule apparently is that teams are to be announced 8 hours before games.   That makes the Saturday games announced on Thursday at the latest.   We had similar prooblems in the past with Sunday games.   So lets hope it turns out better than expected

 You have no interest in this issue - so why not stop trying to cause trouble on the site?   

Why not have a selection thread.....and a site mechanics thread. That would be far more efficient. These aren't new topics they just clog up the Board and can pretty much all be captured under those two topics. Or go below and play the American secretaries game to your heart's content.

For what it is worth I send a message to each of the Stormers, Cheetahs, Sharks, Lions and Bulls with a plea that they announce the teams on Wednesday - I left out the Kings, not worth sending a message to them.
Obviously I pointed out the problem in the process - hope it helps.

 this "brilliant" idea of playing on thursday the first 2 rounds is going to be a huge problem for the fantasy games

SANZAAR should do what the NRL is doing long time ago,... the NRL run its own Fantasy game and with that of FoxSports, they are the 2 main fantasy games,...  there are around 100.000 players (there are even more playing the AFL fantasy games),.... and the NRL made the possible to facilitate the fantasy game,... e.g., all the teams must announce their teams by tuesday when the first game is on thursday

but the SANZAAR won't be even aware of the utility of the fantasy games for promoting the game itself,.... and next week we'll have to select our fantasy team not knowing the line-ups of some of the teams

 we won't very probably know the jaguares line-up,... but they have announced the27-Squad travelling to SA:




the most remakable news is the absence of Facundo Isa,... one of their best players if not the best (with Creevy's permission),.... I made some research and found:


UAR Block Facundo Isa from Jaguares Training

The UAR has blocked Facundo Isa from Jaguares training. The star no8 was stopped from playing for Argentina’s Super Rugby franchise in yesterday’s warm-up match against Uruguay.

Isa’s non-involvement was due to his future. The Santiago del Estero back-rower has signed a contract with Toulouse. The two-year deal will see him in France from July 2017 to July 2019. This will not see him miss Rugby World Cup 2019 but it means he will not be able to play for Los Pumas before returning home.

Existing policies mean he only possible Pumas appearances will be against England and Georgia this coming June.

The UAR are actively working now to determine the case of Isa. Although no official announcement has been made from Toulouse or the UAR L’equipe has confirmed the move. The uncertainty complicates matters for all concerned at a complicated time – a month out from the start of the Super Rugby season.

Until it is cleared up Isa will not be training with his peers. Of note is the precedent set by Facundo Bosch. The hooker signed for Agen and will move to France in June. After having signed with Agen the UAR released Bosch from Los Jaguares.

I couldn't find any official statement of Isa's release from the team,... but this seems the most probable once he has not been selected,.... if it's confirmed that he's not going to play for the Jaguares coz he signed to play in France, seems like a bit over-reaction from the UAR

Isa was very expensive for the Fox but I had him selected for the SuperBru,... if someone had also selected him for any of the fantasy games, get rid of him coz he's not going to play the first 2 rounds,... and possibly the rest of the tournament

 I had picked him for my team so will have to find someone else. Thx for the info. ABF.

Oh well, at least it's just the 1st two weeks.
I'm tempted to suggest we share our teams and trade info about who might be a starter or not fo r these first two weeks . . . but the American Secretaries team is so smoking hot that I don't want to share it with all you thieves!
