If the Sharks don't sort out their lineout very quickly then they're going to turn a promising season into a disaster.

The number of lineouts lost on the Sharks own throw was pathetic. I haven't seen match stats but did they even win 50% of their own lineouts? Not that the scrumming was a lot better, especially considering it was a relatively weak Hurricanes front row.

The backs have looked good but who knows what kind of starting XV the Sharks will be able to put up against the Rebels with both Boeta Chamberlain and Makazole Mapimpi failing their HIAs? Not sure if Curwin Bosch will fly back to join the squad after his compassionate leave but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been the plan when he left. Sanele Nohamba didn't do a bad job in Bosch's absence but he's also the only scrumhalf cover (he should be the first choice in my opinion) so it looks like reinforcements are needed.

The #1 problem remains the lineouts though. Not sure if it's Kerron van Vuuren's throwing or poor communication but Craig Burden's injury means we're now very thin at hooker as well and a backup will have to be flown out.

Pity because what started out as such a promising tour is now turning into a nightmare.

Come on Sharks!

Yeah, that's spot on.

How can you win when you cannot get your hands on the ball when your own hooker throws in.

Andrews is pathetic - they should bring in Van der Mescht at lock and fly over Jordan Chait to play at flyhalf.

I have given up on Thomas du Toit as a scrummer at least  a year ago - too much fat and too little power.

Agreed Rooi their set pieces were shocking but it did not help losing their starting props before the game. I would love to know why Ox Nche was moved to the bench just before the start John Herbert Meyer is a crap tighthead so I’m not surprised the Sharks struggled in the scrums. Add string bean Andrews pushing behind the props at lock and Notshe hardly being the biggest 8 around at the back of the scrum. As for the line outs - well again I’m guessing the only reason useless Andrews makes the Sharks starting side is his line out work and management. He was utterly useless here along with the hookers throwing in. The shambles in the set pieces cupped with the early loss of Chamberlain along with the pathetic one on one missed tackles on Lam handed the Canes that game. A game the Sharks should have won

Just an injury update, Curwin Bosch is back with the Sharks squad and will play on Saturday while Makazole Mapimpi and Boeta Chamberlain will probably be unavailable after failing their HIA tests.
Just not sure what the issue is with Thomas du Toit . . . don't know why he was pulled from the Hurricanes game at late notice or whether he'll be available to play the Reds.

Thomas struggled at prop and maybe the Sharks were afraid of him being carded.

Thomas is a lump of lard much like Wilco.

To be a class prop today you need strength and mobility.  Carrying a lot of lard doesn't help.

Ou Saffex needs to get a grip on basics.

The Sharks tight five is problematic. Andrew's is not as weedy as wee matfiled but a weed none the less

The NH has plundered our lock resources especially. Nobody produces locks like we do.

Big problem for the wee Sharkies of course is they are having difficulty plundering Free State resources, as predicted by Beeno, the one who knows!

Wilco Louw currently does not look fat, at least for a prop. He needs more game time to be match fit. In his first season for the Boks, he looked like the best new tighthead in ages- a traditional Bok. Not sure what happened.

Baboon-ou has the build of a pot-bellied pig while we know that ou Maaik requires at least a D Cup . . . so seeing these two wobbling fatties calling professional athletes like Thomas du Toit and Wilco Louw fat is quite rich.
LMAO!

Beenkop as thick as pigshit - Thomas and Wilco have no excess fat on them unlike Malherbe who does But the best call of all is this fucking dimwit telling us Andrews is bulkier than Matfield Not only a dumbfuck, he is also clearly as blind as a bat

No he is stating the facts - neither Wilco or Thomas are anything close to being fat Your mate Malherbe is a good example of a fat prop but we can excuse that as he is a good prop By the way vd Mecht is injured The Sharks should start Roets at 4 and move v Heerden to 5 and send useless Andrews to basketball trials

Another update . . . Mapimpi has passed his concussion test and will be available to play against the Rebels on Saturday.
Thomas du Toit had an illness last week but will also be available for selection on Saturday.
Boeta Chamberlain failed his concussion test and will be returning home. Lwazi Mvovo is flying in to replace him in the squad.

Well saffextwitt poor  pap matfiled was down to 102 kg and said to be too light to return to rugby. Unfortunately he was called up by Meyer and lost us the world cup.

Andrews weighs in at 108 Kg and although outgunned at least attempts to play as a lock. Wee matfiled was a backline wannabee. A complete fraud.

Lardy Thomas is a glutinous 136kg. Feeds on oily sardines every day no doubt.

Wilco has trimmed down a bit so if he works hard he may get there. He is down to 126 kgs.

Saffextwit and rooitwit you understand very little about the game so best pipe down. Hahahhahahahahahaha

Beenkop you fucking idiot, are you saying that if you weigh over 130kg you have to be fat you ignorant prick? Shows how fucking stupid you are. As you can see from the photo Shark posted of Wilco there is no fat on board at all. Nice to see you lying about Matfield’s weight at 102kg - what a load of shit Matfield in his prime was 115kg, Andrews at 108kg is at his maximum given his weedy skeletal frame Stop lying you desperate prick

Thomas Du Toit is one of the better props in the loose/open play.

He has struggled to switch from loosehead to tighthead, but that was to ensure both he and Beast could have been in the Sharks starting team.

If they keep him at loosehead he can focus on his allround game.

It takes time to switch, Nyakane was a loosehead and is now a good tighthead. Coenie was a loosehead and by the time he left SA he was a good tighthead. The Sharks need him at tighthead as they have Ox Nche at loosehead I like the look of Kumbaria that the Sharks have acquired from WP but he seems to have not found favour with the Sharks yet. Big young square of a tighthead - far better than Hubert-Meyer their current bench tighthead The Sharks need to catch a wake up
