Side Show Bob Kirchner's emotional Good Bye

Cape Town - Zane Kirchner will be leaving Irish club Leinster at the end of the season as he makes the move to the Newport Gwent Dragons in Wales. 

The Springbok fullback, capped 31 times at international level, has spent four seasons at Leinster. 
South Africans will always consider Kirchner a Blue Bull - he won a Currie Cup and two Super Rugby titles with the Pretoria-based franchise - but judging by Kirchner's emotional message to Leinster on Wednesday, he has found a new home in Ireland. 
Kirchner gave the following message on Leinster's official website:
“To a badge and a fraternity that literally turned my life around. A place that became home. Friends that grew closer then family.
“From me and my family we humbly thank everyone for the adventure. To the organisation, from top to bottom, thank you for allowing me to set foot in a club which I believe is the best that I’ve ever been.
“To the Leinster blue faithful, I hope that even for a little while I brought joy to your presence at our games. The roar and memories of the RDS is something I’ll carry and treasure for the rest of my life.
“I am very grateful.”
Kirchner represented the Bulls between 2008-2012.

His contract was NOT renewed - that is why he is leaving.   Not an acceptable full back and Leinster played him on the wing - where he was not really performing either.   Another Meyer favourite who went sour.    

 Bumped into him at the WC.....there's not a lot of the small and light man. Not sure if he was a favourite of HM seeing as  he didn't even get to warm the bench. Could have been a quota.

He was Meyers initial full back selection until he got injured and was replaced by Le Roux.   He was never on the scene again until the WC.   Probably a quota selection - but never really any good.  

 I had a funny experience when I bumped into him, firstly I recognized him by his hair and I knew he played as a fullback but I'd completely forgotten his name. That would normally be an embarrassing situation seeing he was a player of national credentials but I'd taken so little notice of him that his name fell off my register.So yeah, it was momentarily awkward but in hindsight I couldn't care less.

 You're right Cloudy ...... I wonder how many players make the effort.

And the ignorance about NH rugby shines through once again. I am not going to school you again by spoon feeding you the facts. It is time you do that yourself. I do not have much hope that you would pay any attention to the facts. You always prefer to make up and then believe your own version. Hint...... Try to find something on the IRFU's succession policy. You might even find something there about the reason why Ruan Pienaar left Ulster as well .

I know about the Irish policy - also including Ruan Pienaar being forced out of Ulster as a result.  Dim you are - but really need you not try and improve.   He was useless for his club - but need you try and protect another Meyer favourite - dofdoos?

CleverM, it seems to me you are dodging what ceredyne is saying. Kirchner's contract not being renewed had nothing to do with his performance, so your comment is not relevant.

None of the elderly is renewed because they want to bring in Irish youngsters into clubs and hence to the national team.  
I did regularly not see Kirchner playing, but when I did he was dead average.   Nothing to write home about.   Hence my observation.
Despite the prohibition of Irish Rugby - they still sign younger players that potentially could end up taking Irish citizenship and play for them.        

 Tsk tsk tsk. Los maar. 

 
Either way ... he was useless then and I guess that much hasn't changed these last few years.

Hopefully he'll not be making himself available for the Goats.
