Well given we were losing in almost every knockout WC match in 2019 and 2023 when Kolisi was subbed it’s hard to make a strong case he was key to the Bok success.

To me he was potentially a destructive open field ball carrier, but Geraasmiss preferred the toothless running of Dud Toit. Kolisi hardly had any runs in the 2023 knockouts, which eliminated his best skill. As a tackler he is adequate, as a fetcher he is pretty useless. Not a lineout option, not an offloader.

And as a captain it always seemed Vermeulen was the man instructing the troops.

Perhaps his best contribution is singing the anthem where his body language is operatic…I hope his voice as well.

Ah so Moz we were down at halftime because Kolisi was on the field - you are not seriously this rugby stupid are you?

After all you do know better than Marx, Jean and Schalk

Up your game Moz you have a rugby reputation to uphold

Here is a little help - rugby is a team sport played by 15 men

Down because he was on the field….hard to say. Did we win the semi against Wales where Flo made the crucial turnover because Kolisi was subbed….you betcha.

Flo was bog ordinary.

So given your angle the same could apply to the physically inept Mostert who also started those WC games

So by applying your logic we were down thanks to Mostert being on the field

Kolisi and the knockouts:

Japan QF….it doesn’t matter so he stays on for the 80 minutes, except for a yellow card sub for the Beast

Wales SF….subbed at minute 69, scores are level at 16. At minute 76 Flo forces a turnover penalty, Pollard slots the pressure kick.

England F….Boks lead 18 to 12 when Kolisi subbed at minute 64. Boks win the remainder of the match 14 points to zero,

…..

France QF ….Boks down by 3 points at minute 46, Kolisi subbed, Boks win by a point. Kolisi’s contribution 6 tackles, 1 missed. Zero runs

England SF….England ahead 12 points to 6 at minute 51. Kolisi’s contribution 8 tackles, no runs….Kolisi subbed, Boks win by 1.

AB F….Most telling of all. It’s the WC final with 8 minutes to play. Kolbe is yellow carded. It’s a desperate last 8 minutes and Geraasmus subs Wiese on for captain Kolisi, who had his 1 run of the playoffs!

……

It’s a pattern where Geraasmus keeps Kolisi on when things are in our favor but he gets yanked when the matches are close. He shows no faith in Kolisi as a runner, his strong suit. But what’s your interpretation Dave…how does this show confidence in the captain.

This Moz is pretty obvious but then again you don’t get most of what makes the Boks tick - after all you don’t rate - PSDT - joke of the decade - literally

But here goes

Here are the facts - Kwagga is a shit starter regardless of where he starts - why, because he is physically not able to impose himself when players are fresh. Kolisi on the other hand is both physical and a great link and attacking 6.

He is there to empty his tank in the first half and then make room for Kwagga who is far more impactful when the opposition are tired and the game is looser

Have to disagree, the whole thing about Kwagga not being a starter was the one game he started at 8 and dropped a kickoff. As for Kolisi being physical when he bottles out of contact when the ball is on the deck, again, just a claim.

Both Kwagga and Kolisi are more impactful when the game is more open.

As for Kolisi’s contributions….I ask the same question about Dud Toit. What does Kolisi actually do? In Duds case he does make a lot of tackles. In Kolisi’s case ….a whole lot of nothing.

Occasionally something happens and he is in the right place eg I recall an over the try line defensive interception. …which seems to energize him.

But most often you never notice him. He actually plays far better for the Sharks where he is the ball carrier, which he does far better than the toothless Dud Toit. He could be a contributor but usually isn’t in Geraasmus’ game plan

Rubbish Kwagga has never impressed as a starter, not once

Kolisi is the far better player given he is able to impress when the game is tight and players are fresh

Totally different players - Kolisi our best attacking forward and damn good defensively, Kwagga the pocket rocket who brings his 7’s skills to the game in the second half when players are tired and the game looser

Sooooo obvious

But despite all your bluster Kolisi wasn’t there when the game had to be won, most often from a losing position. Which other WC captains we faced were subbed before the final whistle:

2019

Japan..,,Leitch….no

Wales ….Alun Wyn Jones….no

England….Owen Farrell…no

2023

France…DuPont…no

England…..Owen Farrell…no

NZ…Sam Cane….no…red card

So no side faced in the RWC knockouts subbed their captain. But we did, because Geraasmus was more confident the Boks would win if he was off the park. Normally your captain would be expected to provide on field leadership as the game got critical. That was exactly when Kolisi was yanked…..40 minutes/70 minutes….it didn’t matter when Geraasmus got nervous Kolisi was yanked.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahaha!

I trust you're being sarcastic here Saffex.

The pompous old rugby noob who thinks two-time RWC winning coach Rassie is a useless coach and two-time World Rugby Player of the Year Pieter-Steph du Toit is a crap player . . . that same ignorant old fool has some kind of rugby reputation to uphold?

LMAO!

Well good thing Kolisi was subbed in the French game because Kwagga came on and won the game for us, winning the penalty 5m out that Eben ultimately scored the crucial try from through brilliant followup pressure, and then he went on to win yet another turnover penalty just after the restart, which Pollard slotted for 3. Chalk up 10 points right there.

Kolisi left with attacking stats of 1 pass. Not one run, not one meter. Just one pass in 46 minutes. Kwagga came on and in just 29 minutes made the same number of tackles, ran 5 times, made 18m and beat 2 defenders while winning two consecutive match deciding penalties. The difference between a player that shows up for the big moment, and one that disappears.
