All those punting Reinach, Lambie, Step and Coenie  have finally had their wish come true. How did that work for you chaps. This wide open rugby is fun isn't it? HM started losing the plot at home with the introduction of these "exciting" players. It was just a matter of time.

We need a few dominant players like Alberts and Schalk back....but the centre scene, particularly in the light of Jean's injury is a disaster.

Point proven, the youngsters flopped, they are no better than the so-called geriatrics....Meyer has some decisions to make, if he hangs with Hougaard then I'm done with him. The backline remains static, clearly he needs to import the nous.

We need to stop worrying about the age of our players.....stop trying to "build for the future". Pick the best players, but ties go to the incu-mbent

Our pack under performed because of a very pap matfiled who lost a couple of lineouts - his supposed forte. Oupa a quota player was also weak. Two very sub par players. This makes a significant difference.Nothing wrong with Reinach at all. Pollard defintely is a better player than Lambie. Nothing wrong with Jan either. Scrums were as Mallet said a lottery.
Instead of being able to close out the match the Boks were given an uncalled for yellow.  Half Penny deserves an oscar for his performance. The timing of the yellow was also impeccable.
The big concern now is Meyers ability to pull it all together. His selections frankly have left alot to be desired. Some players know when they are done but Meyer doesnt. I have lost a lot of confidence in Meyer thsi year seeing his bungling of things. Fancy planning to go to the RWC with Bakkies, matfiled, Guthro, Jaque Fourie and co. The mind boggles. Fancy leaving Willemse behind!
I will grant Meyer the fact he has a number of players out and has obviously got quota issues re staff and players but even still.
Still if he gets on the right track we will be very serious contenders for the RWC.To begin with away with oupa and away with matfiled.

Well at least one Boks supporter (poor weee Beeno) is sounding a note of optimism.
M aybe the results of this game show that if you play your B team then most teams will lose.

I have finally figured out Meyer's game plan.

It is al about physicality and speed of execution done with high intensity.

Willie le Roux is the back up plan. If we don't rock up for the match Meyer hopes Willie can come up with something special.

Speed is not a vital cog in the Bok makeup, that is why players like Senatla, Kolbe, Engelbrecht etc. is not required, simply because they are not big and physical enough.

No skills required in any of the 14 other players.

We rock up we win (plan A), we don't rock up (We hope Willie does something special plan B) , if plan A or B doesn't work, e lose (plan  C)

SO the path for next year is clear, bring back the biggest strongest Motha ....ckers we can muster.

Let's not fool ourselves that we want to play wide and exciting attacking rugby filled with offloads and angled running.

After all, our neanderthalic instincts find bulldozing teams into submission quite entertaining, it is just boring when we don't pitch with the necessary intensity.

This makes selection protocols much easier to understand, eh?

 "Plan C" is working, lol
The goal for this game included trying out some players. Much like the ABs, the Boks had to try out all their players on this tour. However, the Boks don't have enough quality depth to beat a team like Wales if they don't play their best players.

Hasbeeno, your pack under-performed because you have a crap pack. As for your stuttering backline?.......well, the Boks have massive issues heading into 2015. Lucky to make it past the QF at the RWC I'm thinking. And to think you thought the heavy NH grounds would suit you!! Bwahaha......

Moolaa: perhaps the fields was not "heavy enough"? The ball was "too greasy" in an earlier game, lol Perhaps everything will be "just right" one day.

Bok pack was man-handled at 50 minute mark but overpowered Wal es at 58 minute mark. So far Boks are by no means dominating the Welsh forwards so a traditional strength of the Boks is not there.

The Bok pack grunt is gone, the reason are simple. The fight in the dogs aren't there.

Beast is flat

Jannie is flat

Bismarck is flat

Strauss is flat

Vicki is flat

Eben is not the same he was before his injury, although yesterday was his first good performance this year.

Coetzee is not running straight.

Oupa is useless

Du ane is the lone crusader and must be dead tired.

BB: I agree on Boks losing their grunt in the forwards, it was clear in the rucks & scrum. Lineouts, there was no dominance & the rolling maul was not impressive. 78 minute mark Wales won a big scrum.
Could be down to the best Bok players were not on the field, Burger was missed for example.
Le Roux another knock-on at 78 minute mark. Big mistakes by the Boks in the last 10 minutes but Wales could not capitalize .

I think the scrumming yesterday was not to bad - even with Matfield in the scrum.   They took two tightheads - something of a first this year.   There was only one really poor scrum yesterday ad that is whe Nyakane came on.   The rest of the game we had the upper hand in scrums.
There is no doubt that Etzebet was good in th lst two mtches - the lone warror.   Matfield showed zdero and was poor on the day.   He lost possession twice and did his standard - gave away hispnormal penalty.   His line out performance has become a lottery.  He takes less line-outs in every game he played in.   Yesterday it was 3 takes with one furhter take on opposition throw-in - his first since June.    One thing was also notceable - Matfield moving to no 3 in the line-outs  - that normally indicates eh was afraisd of competing with the Welsh juming at no 5, but it also neutralizes Etzebeth as a line out jumper.
Mohoje is NOT an international level player - he was disastrously poor yessterday.
Reinach got blamed for two hessitations in passing - the rest of the game he was fine.   Problem in those two cases was there was so many forwards between him and the flyhalf that he had difficulty on deciding who to pass to - Matfield is a pap ball carrier and the rest was not firing in any event.
Lambie made one excellent line break and ran for about 30 meters and then found that there was no supporting runner - neither any of the ceners or wings was there to pass to and he was forced to kick - with nobody following up the kick as well.  That really was BS by the players outside of him.   That to my mind typified wthe play fo the cebnters and wings yesterday.  Flat as a table top.
My fears about both Hendricks and Mvovo was justified - they are both really not good enough in most facets of play.
I hink Willie got into the mood of things - hence his knock-ons later in the game.   He was just doing the same poor things that the rest of the backline was noted for.
One thing was clear - Pollard was playing according to instructions and those did not include passing the ball to the backline.   He passed the ball twice - Once to Hendricks and the secod time to a forward.   Mind you Pollard cannot be blamed - he was most of the time playing outside Hougaard - who was an absolute disaster.
Be it as it may - De Villiers handled the ball 4 times and made only 1 pass Before his injury - he did  other than to kill the game -  squat as well.

Mike, there were only two Springboks worth their spot yesterday, Duane and Eben.

The rest were flat, made stupid decisions and a host of unforced errors.

There is nothing to take from that game that we can learn from, and even if thee were I can almost guarantee you Meer will take the wrong lessons from it.

The Boks are either switched on or they are not, this November they weren't. We can look at individuals as much as we want, but it was a collective flop.

You can change as many players in that setup as you want, but if they don't pitch mentally they will be as useless as the bunch of yesterday.

It is as simple as that. And I agree with Mallet, if Wales struggled to beat the Boks with that poor perform ance I don't see Wales going anywhere.

The Bok scrum was crap yesterday. It went backwards almost every time. Their is no way that was one of their better scrumming performances. The boks even got sloppy ball from the few scrums they dominated.
One of the tightheads was luck. I think their hooker or prop kicked the ball forward instead of hooking it back. The bok scrum was going backwards on that, maybe the first time I have seen a tighthead won when a scrum is going backwards, since school days.

I knew this would be the case......Lambie, Reinach, Steppie, Coenie are blameless....but Victor the guy who made 10 out of 10 tackles man there's your culprit. O h and of course HM.

I am sick of repeating myself, Serfontein is an inside center. Throw him onto the scrap heap at your own perile, he's got it but Meyer is making a mistake. If the Bulls do opt for a more balanced game with Pollard and Serfontein then Super rugby next year shall be a treat, but don't expect them to fire in their first match as they've had countless seasons of kicking as it's in their DNA. It'll take a while for them to get it right but they have the personnel to play some good rugby.
Boks lose against Wales and it's the end of the world, fickle. With a smaller workload next year we'll be up there in the RWC and Meyer is still the right person to get us there. Remember 2006?

I love the fact that the tackles made by Matfield is now a consideration - the only reason for him being in the team.   His line out jumping - the first excuse for his inclusion in the team  - went out fo the window in the EOYT and is not mentioned anymore.
Now what about that - having a player with no grunt at lock who did not make any contribution to Tight 5 play yesterday and in any match since he returned to the Springbok team - be excempte from poor play.    What a joke!!!!!!

What a load of shit. The worst player by some distance was useless Matfield.....the old boy who as my mate said looks all of 37......its a joke.
Reinach, Coenie and Serfontein were good in that game. The notion that Coenie can't play 3 at test level was once again dispelled.
Horrific injury to Jean which looked career ending which will be a blessing for the Boks but sad for Jean. If only we could get rid of useless Matfield now.
