So Ed ....let me respectfully demur

We are now going to follow other forums and have a 'banter' section. It won't be used much in my view. In the meantime off rugby topics will be eliminated or hounded by the Board Gestapo types like Rooinek  and Basque. This will probably lower undesirable content, but it will also lower fun and communication.
I will give you an example. After seeing a Russian baritone last Friday I posted about it, knowing about Seb's and JW's Russian connections. A short dialogue ensued in which I learned a bit about both posters and Russia. It was nice and not disruptive. The thread will head quickly towards the exit.
In the new regime, if I have to put that under Side Swipes, I wouldn't have bothered. Nor will other posters if the cricket section is anything to go by. So we will lose a lot of the richness that makes the Board interesting, particularly in the off season.
No doubt off rugby topics sometimes abound and perhaps clog things up. But Beeno's solution of confining himself to one string was a reasonable compromise. Some of the objections had little to do with the impact on rugby discussion, but were simply censorship on the part of a few posters.
You will probably feel disinclined to change, but even cricket discussions are most vigorous under the rugby section.  My solution is no sections and self policing to avoid proliferation of topics....i.e expecting members to behave like adults and the Board as a whole to provide a gentle reminder if there are too many off topic strings.
If off topic strings generate big volume, they are obviously of interest in themselves or because of the interaction.

The great success of this Board is because it has no intervention...a free flow of smart, dumb, obstinate, crude, belligerent, whacky ideas. Let's keep it that way.

 Mozart, some boundaries should be self imposed, there are times when posters cross the line & they must know that. Racist , homophobic & insults to family members or other extremely insulting comments - I am against them all. 
Ed is offering a solution, we will see who uses it. Hopefully now the season has started we will get more rugby banter.

Basically, Moffie is stamping his foot in anger demanding that he be allowed to continue slandering posters, behaving like a s piteful child, lying through his rotting yellow teeth and generally lowering the tone of the board.
Hopefully the Side Swipe section will annoy him so much that he leaves and never comes back.

No actually I'm making a few points about how to keep the Board as an enjoyable destination. But it's  entirely up to Ed, without whose commitment to all of us, there would be nothing to debate.
As for your fervent desire for me to leave, don't hold your stinking breath Lush.

 Excellent post Moz. Further to my political thread - nobody is forced to read it. But sabotaging the the threads and then actually deletting the content of the thread (As happened yesterday) is simply not acceptable.
We saw how having numerous sections for different topics killed kamp ss.
So far I have refrained from sabotaging any bodies posts  but what if this becomes a trend. Yo don't like a thread stuff it up via margins or delete the content like ab ass did.Imaging having a board where a lunatic like ab ass decides what or what is not acceptable!!No leave things as they are Ed and deal with those trying to suppress debates and sharing of views.

 From what I've seen ... this board has a lot of traffic. 
Why is that?
We've known each other for many years ... so much so that when one board closes down or chases us away ... we go elsewhere ... in search of each other ... and once we find each other we continue the abuse ... calling each other twats and whatnots.
Wankers like JW an Sebastien come aboard and want us all to hold handies.

This is an interesting board ... with interesting characters ... even our absentee Ed has the potential of being interesting ... yeah I know that's pushing it a bit but let's face it, he's allowed a lot and because of it we keep coming back for more of the whatnots and the twats etc ...

I have submitted articles from the leading papers in both Europe and USA. I cant even imagine why you think all this stuff can be swept under the carpet although I fully understand why you want this.
