It’s clear that Rassie is moving away from the Pollard / DA/ Kriel combo that has featured as the axis of our backline for so long. Add Am to that equation and to a lesser extend Esterhuizen
The only reason DA still features is because of the injury to Fassi
There is no doubt that had no injury occurred we would have seen Willemse retained at 12 with Fassi at 15
This new direction is very encouraging - it’s an exciting prospect for the future
We now just need to see an advance in weeding out Reinach at 9 - which to be fair I just don’t get why he is there in the first place
We also need to see more youthful depth added at lock as our lock incumbents are old.
Same applies to the loosies - Hanekom is an obvious dead cert, Roos should be but Rassie seems to have an issue with him. Elrigh Louw and Vincent Tsituka looked good at test level
We need a long term replacement for Marx - Wessels could be the answer
We need to see all these players invested in on the EOYT with the likes of Mapimpi, Faf, Reinach, Koch, Bongi, Lood and Mostert put out to pastures
