Trevor is a very strong ball carrier too. Far, far superior to the 1 inch increments the Beast notches up. But I still don't trust him, not yet. But he deserves a shot at the position because the alternatives are not delivering. but I mean loosehead, never tighthead.

 Nyakane at loosehead for me, don't like him at tighthead. We've got a few Looseheads coming through with Du Toit playing well for the BaaBaa's and Schalk Van Der Merwe a part of the dominant Lions front row.

Ah what a load of lies.......Coenie popping or doing a dive.......how bloody insulting........its nothing short of a prejudicial observer smarting after being proven wrong regarding Coenie.


At least now when we hear the usual garbage regarding Coenie as a tighthead we have his display against Italy to discredit the lies.......the same will happen against Wales


Good one Coenie......I said ages ago he is good enough to be a test 3 and he proved it.


We are sorted at tighthead moving forward.......Coenie, Marcel v/d Merwe and Malherbe are all test quality 3's and all 3 are as good or better prospects than Jannie was at the same age.

Dave for your favourites outplaying the direct opponent is not necessary. Just hanging on is good enough. Scrumming at a blatantly inwards angle is not a problem, but I can remember the days when a much lesser angle from BJ Botha was enough for you to write him off. Incredible inconsistency.  Still there are much better loosehead props than the almost  34 year old, 6 ft, 110 kg  Italian. This is not going to work with Coenie..

You are on dangerous ground here - scrumming inwards is a penalizable offence and can have serious negative consequences for teams.
Now just one question please.  Is there a difference between Jannie -du Plessis scrumming in and Coenie Oosthuizen scrumming in?   If not - why is the scrumming in of Jannie du Plessis ignored and that of Coenie Oosthuizen mentioned?

Um Coenie scrummed in once and at test level you hardly ever see one prop getting the better of the other......so parity works for me considering its been some time that Coenie has played.


You informed us Coenie was a liability at 3, he proved you wrong once again and that is a fact.

Considering that Aguero,Ghiraldini and especially Castrogiovanni make up one of the strongest front rows in the world...Coenie and Nyakani did a good job...this is has been taken out of context...also against the Argies who I rate the best front row now in the world. Well yes, lets see what Coenie does against Wales.

 I thought the scrums were about even. But the Springboks did start to scrum early on about three occasions where the got away with it. The rest of the time was a gamble as the field was breaking up underfoot and neither team wanted to risk slipping when the scrum was stable. That is also why the Italians did not hook most of the time. 50/50 for me!
