...Winning the 2007 World Cup in France should have been a tremendous boost to South African rugby. Instead it has been a curse.

The owners of the French clubs, a legion of dishonour, watched the players on TV and set out to poach them all.

There are currently 14 South Africans playing rugby at Montpellier alone. Three of them are called du Plessis. Incidentally the Brumbies have also lost three key players, lured by coach Jake White. There are Fijians, New Zealanders, Samoans and Georgians thrown into the mix. But South Africa suffers more than anyone.

Gio Aplon is at Grenoble. Willem Alberts is at Stade. Bryan Habana, Juan Smith and Duane Vermeulen are at Toulon. There are three Van der Merwes scattered about. As a result of all this poaching, the big game is dying on the veldt. The South African provinces are no longer competitive and the fans are heading for the exits.

Even the players are on strike. The ludicrous idea to add a sixth South African team to Super rugby, when the existing five can't even function, is already in turmoil. The Kings, aka Eastern Province, couldn't find a big enough sponsor and so didn't pay its players for two months. Under siege, the new franchise called in armed guards and padlocked its doors.

The Kings' brilliant solution to the crisis was to shuts their doors and open new offices 100m down the road. The South African Rugby Union, who are ultimately responsible for another fine mess, have stepped in and formed a new holding company. A new chief operating officer has been appointed and an initial (firing) squad selected.

One player has taken to social media to threaten legal action. Back from France with his fiancée to play for the Kings, Michael van Vuuren wrote on Facebook, "Despite a petition and a plea from the players, it is now clear to me that the executive cannot resolve the issues. The non-payment of monies due to me for October and November have left me financially embarrassed.

"I am no longer in a position to rely upon my friends and my family. The broken promises and continued financial issues as well as the constant reference to liquidation has rendered my position untenable. Unfortunately the executive is in material breach of my contract and in the circumstances I have no choice but to cancel my contract and exercise my legal remedies."

...Everywhere turmoil. A few days earlier, Heyneke Meyer resigned his position as Springboks coach, saying, "My integrity has always been very important." The politicians are implementing a "transformation policy" for the 2019 World Cup saying that 50 per cent of the squad must be non-white and that 60 per cent of those non-whites must be black African.

What the hell is going on in South African sport, from the blade runner to the president of SARFU? The players are heading overseas. The top coaches are all resigning. The fans are walking out. Slowly the flame on all those barbecues that used to warm the early evening air around the stadia is dying.

Last year not one of the five South African teams would have made the top six of Super Rugby on points. South Africa has had one finalist in the previous five years and they were smashed by more than 30 points. Crowd numbers have virtually halved. Faced with a choice between the Blitzbokke and the Shitbokke, no wonder the fans are turning towards sevens.

So if you see a South African rugby fan, tired and hungry, lying in the ashes of his braai, help him to his feet. If you are a New Zealander in Cape Town in February, go to the season opener at Newlands between the Stormers and the Bulls. Be charitable. Make it Back-a-Bok day. South African rugby needs our help.

Rugby is the least of our worries.

We're alternating between heatwaves and flooding; the rand is in free fall after our clown of a president started playing musical chairs with his cabinet; burst water pipes mean I've had no water for the last 2 days and municipal strikers are marching through the Johannesburg CBD throwing bags of rubbish in the streets as I type this . . . so the state of our rugby is hardly top of list of things I'm worried about.

The Springboks have been through worse and they'll be back.

...AB , would rather see SBW and Messam playing for the Chiefs...it will be a miracle if our Sevens team do well this year as all the teams are so close  - and now it's anybody's gold medal at Rio... am hoping that the nationals in January will uncover some new talent after we were beaten by Canada - that's a new all time low for us...

Seeing what is happening today is like reading what Beeno said would happen years ago.
Saving some sort of miracle rugby is doomed and the country as a whole will struggle dispite its great riches.
As with the PC estbalishment overseas we have here a brainwashed majority who are unable to see through the anc. Indeed their main alternative the EFF is twice as bad. Its hard to see where slavation will come from.
Advice - legally get as much boodle offshore as possible. If possible immigrate. If you can get interested in tennis or golf - both are merit based sports! Bob sincere congrats on seeing things so fairly. I know some hatters here have taken a few rediculous pot shots at you.

The only problem with our rugby which is very difficult to solve is the overseas exodus. The rand has further plummeted and the overseas attractive is even greater. The rest of the problems are solvable if we had a Trump type guy in charge. Currently we have Obama types runni ng the show and its a horrible disaster!!!

Beeno you absolute pessimistic redneck moron. You don't have a crystal ball nor a very good.u derstanding of the world around you and every sentence puke out on this forum is evidence to that. The two main reasons for the Rand's recent decline are a) drought(worst in more than a quarter of a century) and b) the change of finance minister(rehiring one the best in the world in that position). Prior to this the Rand has been one of the most stable developing currencies in the world...despite all odds. So, next year the rain will come and the 19% decrease in the farming sector will be righted. This by the way, and because you didn't know, was THE MAIN FACTOR IN THE RAND'S DECLINE OVER THE LAST 12 MONTHS. Then the effect of the new finance minister will also kick in and by the end of next year the rand will be back to it's R12-15 to the £. But you and your moronic dutchman kind will still stand around at braais talking about how fucked the country is because of all the blacks and the ANC. Tell me d1ckface...any idea how much money has been spent on hospitals, schools, prisons and roads in SA over the last 36 months? I bet you have no clue but will do your best to Google it and come back with some ignorant response. Zuma is an idiot...but trust me when I say, you know nothing about your own country. Always the way. Some ignorant afrikaans prick mouthing off and wanting everyone to listen even though you have no idea what you're talking about. Again, and from the bottom.of my heart, go Fk yourself.

I remember one of the worst ever droughts in Oz back in the 80s.I shore at Mt Lyndhurst staion in 1980 when we had 12 guys shearing 42,000 sheep ,in 81 it was 6 guys shearing 12000 and in 82 it was the 4 of us shearing 5,000 .The land was as bare as a billliard table by then .One place we shore at was owned by some of the nicest folks you could ever meet and they were all but wiped out by the drought and the bank was foreclosing on them ,but they owed council rates so the council put their property up for auction .Nobody but the owner bid on it [ his neighbours made sure of that along with the council] and he got his property back free and clear for 5,000 the cost of his overdue rates .I think the bank is still screaming about how unfair it was !

Those were the days when communities stood up for each other as though they were family.

You won't see that any longer ... not in this country anyway.

The heat this side has forced me to take my dogs out for a run at 4:30am ... it's just too hot to take them out any later.

I buy ice in large bags from our local bottle store to try cool the dogs water down. They drain 25lt in a matter of minutes.

One's forced to irrigate the garden every few days ... especially the lawn ... because if you don't the Sun burns it dead.

Thankfully I at least have water to do this. For now anyway.

Yeah that was in South Australia where they have some blistering temps ,like the present day but it seems worse now .At one shed in Kingston Sth Australia in 1980 it was 47 outside the shearing shed and 60 inside ,an old Kiwi bloke and my much younger self were the only 2 out of 12 shearers who lasted the whole day .And it was mighty tempting to just bugger off to the air conditioned pub 20 klicks down the road but just to get one over our Aussie mates we hung in for the whole day .Just. Nect day was the same and after half an hour the station owner shut it down till the temp dropped .We didnt complai n too much just enough for good form .You will need an old enamel bath-tub for your dogs at this rate !I used to have a big canvas waterbag to keep water cool when shearing and I used to see blokes keep a big one filled for the dogs .

CC as usual you took what you wanted from that conversation, which you yet again failed to understand and then ranted on in your typical style, making no sense at all. If I remember correctly I said the following... You obviously think homosexuality is strictly about the act of anal sex and so then you must also think that heterosexual relationships are also only about heterosexual sex. In other words there is more to relationships than sex. From that you thought I meant that heterosexual relationships are also about anal sex. Well anyway, looking at how you see the world, I'm convinced that woman are just walking vaginas to you. I'm sorry my conversation went right over your head. I'm really sorry that you have such a narrow-minded view of relationships and I'm really sorry you hate gay people. Yet another group of people that are different from you which you feel so very righteous about hating. No wait...you dont hate them right...you just judge them. Mmm doesn't you book say something about judging? I'm sure I remember something about that. Tell me...how do those cherry you so easilynpick taste? So much fun being a white, religious, racist and homophobic male huh. You South African Christians...such a nice bunch. And so deserving of heaven. Jesus must be very proud ;) Whoever the record keeper on this site is...request that thread from them and hopefully now that I've taken the time to put you on the right track you'll have some kind of rational response that is in some way related to the narrative. Oh, and I stopped coming to the site because everyone said it was closing down and moving to some other page...REMEMBER!? Anyway dude, you can chuck up as many straw man arguments as you like but I'd suggest you instead try to make some valid points instead. Ok? I start to think you have nothing of interest to say. It seems every time you engage me you just make yourself look stupid. Maybe you should stop before you get further behind. Ok bye bye now ;)

Wardad i've actually got two sheep here and have contemplated attempting to shave em. Haven't worked up the courage though. They can be difficult when they want to. We've had temps approaching 40c. In JHB that's not normal. The rest of the country has been very dry. And what compounds the problem is that when it does rain, it rains heavily for short periods and most of the water runs off. The farmers needs that slow consistent rain that soaks the ground. We need that at least once a season. Mostly the guys are covered for one year by their insurance...and normally have the cash to hold out for one more year. They've learnt over the years that a three year drought is very rare. Also, these droughts are normally ended by floods. So, be warned you will be subjected to a post by Beenis when the floods do come that will be entitled something like "The apocalypse looms". Anyway, I'm doing gin and tonic in the swimming pool to beat the heat. Problem is waking up to 35c with a hangover ain't so awesome.

Nah ... that's not the way it went at all.

You fabricate as far as you go. One bullsh!t story after another.

It's never ending.

Just a little coloured boy wishing he were white ... telling us repeatedly that he's white and how he pities the black folk out there ... how ashamed he is of his race (white) ... how he only came to terms with it all at school.

We then had to endure the sad sob story of how useless his white employees are ... as if he had his own business ... and how in fact his best worker, a black man, is streets ahead of the useless whites.

He then tries to convince us that the devil is God's pal and they're in cahoots while Hell's a holiday resort where one goes to be cleansed like at a fat farm.

You argue against Christianity all with an underlined hint of supporting the filthy muslims. Are you??

Let me refresh your memory, Hol Joller ... you told me that you felt sorry for my wife and that you suspect she's probably having an affair with someone else. You told me that the only way to satisfy a girl is to sodomize her ... that you did this often and your girlfriend absolutely loved it.

Ring a bell?

Next thing ... your gone.

You are nothing more than a low life piece of trash with sh!t on his d!ck ... probably bred from some drunkard plotmeid out back in the sticks.

I'm glad your back, Hol Joller. Look forward to our little "chats" ...

It's hard to imagine two more bigoted hypocrites than Baboon-ou and Klown. Funny how these two "christians" get all sanctimonious and pretend to preach the gospel in one breath and then go on these venomous anti-muslim mosque-burning rants in the next . . . or else they spout the biggest load of racist and xenophobic hate speech imaginable.
I don't think either of these two bible-bashing fascists are doing the real christians on this site any favours . . . and I'm sure there are many god-fearing okes who cringe every time Baboon-ou or Klown opens his mouth . . . but hey, they are entertaining if nothing else!

There's no way to view all your posts that I know of but if you can remember any particular words or phrases that you used in a particular post then type it into Google together with "ruckersforum" and you'll probably find it.

DdDraad. My apologies. I suppose that was a case of painting everyone with the same brush. Only, i have had so many bad experiences with Christians in SA. Grew up here and the amount of hypocrisy i dealt with is kinda scary. An example...some family members at church being holier than though, speaking in tongues etc on a Sunday at church and then arriving at home they would not eat out of the same plate as the black woman who cooked their food. I'm probably jaded by those kinds of experiences. Also, having lived in places where this kind of thing does not exist and having returned here to SA as an adult, i guess i notice things a lot more than the average local, not that i'm special or anything.

Either way, point taken. It is unfair to make generalizing statements like that. I shan't make excuses about "the heat of the moment" or BS like that. What i can say is that i do believe in everyone's right to be or believe whatever they want. So long as it does not negatively affect others.

Plum, that's the point, we all tend to form opinions based on our experiences and the extrapolate...it doesn't matter on which side of the fence/PC spectrum you are on, or if the majority agree with your take, it's the same thing. Judging people is wrong...always. Condemning wrong actions is always right....but who determines what is wrong and what right?
