Springbok's finest hours

I watched this the other day, it came up in the automatic suggestions by Youtube within my feed.
Somthing that strikes out about this is it seems players with their first language english are better play makers. Look at Montgomery, Skinstad etc. They are allways looking over their shoulder for support runner and have better passing skills. Less crash ball and more team driven.

I think you are right in your observation here but remember that all great centres as discussed like Danie Gerber, Pieter Muller, The Du Plessis brothers and Andre Snyman were all Af rik aans... this is limited to our view in this particular and wonderful clip...being anti this or that is just as bad as judging people by their colour. I get upset when people are derogatory about French, Russians, Americans, Chinese, Japs, Maoris, Black Africans, Germans, Af rik aaners or any body's ethnics etc, etc...there are good and bad people in every nation just as their are good and bad amongst all races and colours. Referring to English speaking players as superior is absolute nonsense...you know it's certainly not true and offensive to some. Lets not spoil this my friend.
I don't suppose you really meant it seriously but some people are over sensitive to these inferences.

 PS Seb, I don't think Sharkbok meant any harm, just an observation. I'm A f r i k a a n s and did not feel offended.  We should also guard against being too sensitive about these things.
PS, Ed, why is A f r k a a n s filtered out? Some of the filters are unnecessary and quite annoying actually. 

It was controversial and I did want to see the reaction of others. I think being too politically correct can be artificial when we are not saying what we are really thinking. It is like saying that pacific Islands team backline players are good because they are so big, but also skilled. However their tight five is often not great, and get hammered against a strong pack like England. Their teams would be much higher ranked on the IRB if their tight fives were half as good as their backs. 
One of the reason we cant play our most skilled backline players is that they are fine in the Curry Cup, but they are too small when going up against the pacific Island decedent backs whom are 125kg etc. We had Frans Steyn that weight, but he sacrificed his speed and athleticism to get to that weight . 
The percentage is very low of rugby players with English as first language.Being from Durban I would like to see more players with English as their first language. I wonder why it is dominated mostly by Afrikaans players. 

 Shark, the Boere are more inclined to sending their kids to boarding school and for them rugby was a way of getting back at the English at their own game. From the top six unions it's only WP, Sharks and Lions that field significant English players. English and Afrika a n s are more or less eaven demographically, but I think that a lot of english kids play other sports as well whereas A kids play rugga and cricket  and nothing much else. A few years ago cricket was mostly an english sport in SA. At one stage Corrie van Zyl was the only A player in the national squad and the first one in years. That changed as the sport got more popular in A schools.
