Stampkar twins

CJ Stampkar got the ball 24 times and managed 3 passes. The Bard of Strauss got the ball 6 times and passed the ball zero times. So why are these two one dimensional players, who aren't even penetrating runners, so admired by some on this Board? Beats me.

For years we have read on here that players like Schalk just play Stampkar rugby. Well compare Schalk's stats on Saturday. He got the ball 18 times, passed 9 times, ran 8 times and produced one unexpected and remarkably skillful kick which resulted in a try. But we are still told he didn't front, even though he was in the right place so often and bailed out a creaky Stormers scrum.

This professed aversion for Stampkar rugby, but admiration for its most consistent adherents is odd. But I guess it comes from the same chaps who claim they want ball in hand rugby, but wildly cheer rolling kicks into touch in the 22, when ball in hand could have produced a try. The Stampkar germ is deeply seated.

The fact is that Burger was not really up to standard on Saturday.   That skillful kick was a horror and handed the ball over to the Brumbies with ample space to run the ball back at the Stormers and he made only one tackle more than Malherbe and missed the same number of tackles.  I am afraid that Burger on Saturday was not really up to standard - better than the weak before when he was comprehensively out-played by J-L Du Preez and Coetzee - but still only so-so.
The real stars on Saturday against the Brumbies were Du Toit and Etzebeth - not really our loosies,            

Schalk kicked once and it led directly to the Stormers last try....catch a wake up Tokkie.

Burger was not a hiouse on fire - matter of fact he was as a loosie really producing very little:-
Tackles made          -  9Tackles missed        -  2Ball Possession loss  -  1Ball carries             -   8Meters gained         -  11
That is a low count of tackles for an 8 and a very poor ball carrying capacity.  That is why I still say he was very very average in performance.  More of a stampkar kind of performance that one. 

 Not a word about the Burger kick you got wrong.....please set the record straight. As for the Stampkar performance, I agree the metres gained per run were similar.......the difference is Schalk was always looking to pass.....Stampkar charges into the first tackler like a demented Bool.

Geez Moz your rugby ignorance shines bright......CJ plays blindside, his job is to carry the ball in traffic......he gains 1m per carry which is on par with the most physical carriers in the game in Etzebeth Schalk has played 8 and 7, he therefore has more freedom to operate in space when playing 8, his carries to date this series have been below par much like his game in general Do you actually know what a blindside is meant to do? Which blindside in world rugby is playing a creative dynamic role? Geez Moz this is really poor

 There are two little things that you ignore - Stander scored a try - and did not lose ball possession - like Burger did.
   

Burger has been one of the most disappointing SA players this Super series......he should be dropped for Notshe

Just one personal observation - stay as far away as possible from London.  I think London may soon go the Paris and Brussels way,  

 Didn't Burger throw a magic pass that let to a try as well. In one try there were a couple of clever passes that lead to a try, I'm sure Burger made one....and the kick. His best match this season, against the best opposition this season. No reason to think of replacing him yet.

Moz where has Schalk played in his last 2 games....I'll help you...not blindside but 8....it would help to know this very fact along with the obvious that there is a difference between the roles of 7 and 8.
Schalk has been piss poor this super series thus far....disappointing after his good comeback at the end of last year. He has been totally ineffective thus far
