In a strategic shake-up for the upcoming Vodacom URC quarter-final this Saturday, Stormers head coach John Dobson has announced a trio of changes to the team's backline. The squad is set to face off against Cardiff at the iconic Cape Town Stadium, with hopes of avenging their recent 22-16 defeat during the league's final round. Leading the charge will be Ruhan Nel, who steps back onto the pitch after a stint on the sidelines due to injury, also taking on the captaincy role.

Nel's return is not the only headline here; he reunites with Dan du Plessis, his longstanding midfield partner. This game marks their 30th start together, tying the record for the Stormers' most-capped center duo—a title previously held by legends De Wet Barry and Marius Joubert. Changes continue on the wing as Seabelo Senatla steps in to replace Suleiman Hartzenberg, injecting new vigor into the lineup.

The forward pack remains untouched, replicating the combination that took to the field at Arms Park. However, the bench sees some tweaks with Vernon Matongo stepping in for Oli Kebble, and Ruan Ackermann making a welcome return after a lengthy recovery from injury.

"We have some key players returning, which makes this one of the most experienced Stormers teams that we have ever selected,"

Dobson expressed optimism about the match, emphasizing the strength that comes with experience and the advantage of playing on home turf. "We have earned this opportunity to play a quarter-final in front of our fans and we want to make it count," he added.

The full Stormers line-up for the weekend clash is as follows:

STORMERS – 15 Damian Willemse, 14 Seabelo Senatla, 13 Ruhan Nel (c), 12 Dan du Plessis, 11 Leolin Zas, 10 Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, 9 Imad Khan, 8 Evan Roos, 7 Ben-Jason Dixon, 6 Paul de Villiers, 5 Ruben van Heerden, 4 Adré Smith, 3 Neethling Fouché, 2 André-Hugo Venter, 1 Ntuthuko Mchunu.

Bench: 16 JJ Kotzé, 17 Vernon Matongo, 18 Zachary Porthen, 19 Salmaan Moerat, 20 Ruan Ackermann, 21 Marcel Theunissen, 22 Stefan Ungerer, 23 Jurie Matthee.

This lineup, brimming with seasoned players and strategic changes, sets the stage for what promises to be a riveting battle in Cape Town. The Stormers are clearly pulling no punches in their quest for redemption and a spot in the semi-finals.
