So what went wrong thus far? We have seen by halftime that Jantjies was pathetic - he was really poor in everything he tried to do. Then we have the flops at center - both Mnisi and Mapoe specialized in losing ball possession.
I think that people are still mentioning Jantjies as Springbok flyhalf - but he was so poor today thus far. However, he is not up to standard and I always had my doubts of J a ntjies when under pressure.

Jantjies was pathetic in the second half as well. He kicked balls away that should have been kept in hand and he a real bad example of what a flyhalf should not be.
Marx made a huge difference when he came on. And the fact that Mnisi was removed - way too late - meant that the balls were not constantly turned over.
However, I would make a couple of changes and tell Mostert he should not copy Matfield and stand around in the backline frustrating backline play.
I think that the Lions must make some changes for next week:-
* They should get rid of Mnisi - I think they should give Jantjies one more chance, but if he fails again he should not be given a third chance.
* I would start with Marx and not Coetzee.
* Faf was disappointing as well - another chance may change the situation.

Beeno, one has to wonder if this is not another low ebb for SA rugby. Surely it couldn't be worse?

JW we operate on about 50% effectiveness and yet the haplles kiwis still dont have the confidence to take us on without a bent ref in their corner. They simply have no confidence in their players dispite everything!!!!!Its like ou sunny bill taking old man Frans Botha and having the ref come in to save the day. Ha hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Beeno, has anyone told you and the SA players that they should operate at 100%? It is important to get some of these basic things clear Also, this season, please tell the SA players that if they infringe on the rugby laws it results in penalties & cards

Dammit, fishing so I missed the game.
They got the bonus point win though, so not too bad right Mike? I hope Jantjies does come good. He did well last season and was vital cog for the Leeeeeeeeus.
I see Kriel scored. Nothing new there.
You guys want some pics of whatever I pull our of PE's sea?

The game was scrappy and of problematic nature. The Lions will fail against othe r teams if they play like they did.

Plum, post the pics. Many posters have a passion for fishing, some in the lakes and oceans & some on this rugby site
I used to do a lot of fishing when I lived in the US, my son put us all to shame as even as a kid he caught more than anyone around him.

I agree with you - but to get that balance right is very difficult. Most forwards canno t be both good ball handlers and solid up front.
