Taute Rhule EB Viljoen Vorster Ulengo Swiel Papier Nyakane Strauss Malherbe Botha Stephanie Potgieter Wiese Liggies Labuschagne Believe it or not......all those players were seriously punted for the Boks by one of our members. The folly of these picks is best illustrated by combining them into one hilarious team......the team of teams.

First of all this is an outright lie as per normal.   I never punted Rhule. Viljoen, Vorster, Ulengo, Papier and Potgieter.   What happened was a discussion on their performances in individual matches and the fact that they played well in the relevant individual matches.   Because doffies cannot understand rugby performances - he does not really understand when a player is mentioned to look at in future.

Labuschagne is one of the best loosies we had in years in SA and he was highly praised by the NZ commentators and everyone who knows anything about Rugby.   I can remember how you condemned him before you saw a single match he played in.   But what can one expect from a fool who thinks Alberts was ever even a loosie and when Plumtree said Steyn is NOT a center - you were the one who condemned him for saying that about your favouite FATSO.

Shall we go with your list doffies - taken iro performance in 2015 and subsequently .    De Jongh, Morne, Fat Fransie, Alberts, Matfield, Reversing Jannie, Louw and a string of the elderly loasers against Japan.

Of course you did Tokkie....Vorster in particular, Potgieter you made a huge fuss about us missing, and Papier was your big scrummie find who was going to be a Bok. What a team....so many flops you were certain were destined for greatness.

Do you understand English?   I always saw players that would be worth watching to see how they develop in future and that does not mean I am punting them.

I would have played Labuschagne as a loosie years ago - it would have prevented some losses by the Springboks caused by the prop pretending to be a loosie - Alberts - and by Louw.  .I would really think that your all-out support for foolish selections by Meyer and Coetzee  would have taught you a lesson by now - but apparently it has not made any headway in your case.

They were the performers at the time and that counted with me when I wrote the above/  I - unlike you - base my team preferences on performance.   What came up subsequently was a team you would love - it included De Kogh, Fat Fransie and Morne - consequently huge losses.

Precisely.....you pick the next young player who happens to look good in a particular game....a constant churn of 'performance players' who then fade as their lack of test class talent becomes apparent. You follow the approach of Rudolph Destroyli, I follow the approach of Jake White who fixed his mess.

Mozart

NO- I base my observation on a series of games - not a particular game.   You followed nothing since your understanding of wat is expected of players is non-existent,    White had one positive - he realized he knows zip about backline play - so he had Eddie Jones appointed to help them out.

Anybody who support the duds  selected by Me yer on the basis of reputation is a dud himself.

Now back to the Mozart deviation.    White despite his deficiency about backline coaching picked players  on the basis of performance and dropped non-performers as well.   So he was not as ignorant as you are.

You supported the selection of over-the-hill players by Meyer and his search and efforts to get retirees to get back to play.  He even in 2015 picked players for the WC squad that did not have a decent game for 18 months - because he said - "I know what they are capable of".   And you supported that idiocy  all out.

Your forgot that it was 2015 and not 2007 and you would never believe that the has-beens - and some never-has-beens  could not deliver anymore,   No use to try to use White to cover your more recent idiocy.   When White selected the teams they were of top playing age - bar perhaps Percy and Os - the rest were not an over-aged useless lot.   That went out of the window when  Meyer tried to keep that lot 5  to 8 years later.   And you supported him.

Fact is Fat Fransie is a hangover from that time and that is the reason for your support - despite his constant failures.   If Rassie is mad  enough to select Fatso - he will fail and you would try to convince logical people that he did not fail.

Don't misrepresent things - after the Japan disaster they were 6 as well.   Before that they were 4 after losing 5 out of 8 played -ie  Irelan d. Wales, and all three Super Rugby games against the AB's, Australia and  Argentine/   They won three tests only in the period November 2014 to August  2015 against England, Italy and Argentina.  The 6 happened after the Japan disaster.

So in his last year Meyer won outside of the WC 37,5%  of matches actually played.

Case closed =- proving that Meyer''s selections went sour in that period and the resultant loss against the Japanese was the biggest scandal ever in SA Rugby/

I did not support Taute's selection at 13 - it was one of the poor selections of Meyer.  He then selected your  hero De Jongh to play at 13 and the latter went AWOL in both tests - not all your BS could dispute that.

You started the thread and lied through your teeth as per normal.  However, you start and explain how you supported the biggest flop at center ever om Super Rugby level for three years running  - Fat Fransie - at center and why you supported Alberts as a loosie and the foul ups by Matfield in two AB tests running in 2014 and I will respond in kind.    .

Mozart

Go back to his performance for the Lions in 2012 and your eyes may just open a bit about Taute.  After that performance he went to the Stormers and was injured early -as a result of that very serious injury he lost pace badly and he was not used frequently as a full back a fterwards.

He became too slow to be a full back - just like Fat Frannsie - he still has much more pace than Fransie.   Remember - in 2013 Fat Fransie was stated by Plumtree as being no center.  Plumtree  put him on the bench and used him as a full back and he failed badly because of lack of pace..

I believe Taute is nowadays used by his club at center and not full back.

Clever I'm puzzled...you say he lost pace in 2012, but here you are in 2013 pushing him for Bok fullback. ........ 14:55 Saffex I agree in essence with you - with a proviso that there should be no holy cows in the team - if they under-perform they should be gone. I agree with you about Taute also - I think that he should be our back-up full back if he get his act together and get decent playing time. We in fact need two players per position to cater for injuries, etc. ... I'm having a hard time following your logic here.

Mozart

Get your head clear - you are talking tripe.  Taute went to the Stormers in 2013 and was injured constantly -  he in fact rarely played for the Stormers  that year.  When was that posting made?    If it was early in 2013 before the extent of Taute/s injuries became clear - it holds soe truth since it would be based on his performance at full back in 2012.

Unlike you I am not in the habit of supporting players who do not perform and as stated Taute rarely played or the Stormers that year  so any comments on him would have been based on his 2012 performance.

In 2013 Meyer was still "married"  to Kirchner and as a result also supported by you - and any player would have been better than that dud.

So best I can make out you rabidly supported Taute despite the fact that he slowed after 2012.....because he was better than Kirchner who I never supported. I guess that's the best we are going to do on that one.....so let's pass on to Rhule. Why were you so keen on him?

Just to jog your memory back in 2013 you said this about Rhule: 'Quite a number of the SA players are disliked by many on the forum - Mozart especially hates any reference to players like Labuschagne and Oosthuizen - who made the overall team for all franchises involved and to those must be added in the SA conference team the names of Mvovo, Spies, Rhule.' What were you thinking when you added Rhule? Can you help us?

Never was keen on Rhule because of his poor tackling.  Did put him in my SA Team of the week when he scored two tries - but you would not find his name in the  present squad I indicated abov e - am keen about Nkosi and Mapimpi though.

Okay it doesn't seem you can mount much of a defence for your Rhule pick...Tokkie. And time is moving on, we want to get through most of this to see if we should call Rassie before he announces....the squad. So what were you thinking when you championed EB Viljoen. To me he looks like a fat, slow guy who can't tackle. What are we missing here coach?

Let's move on to Swiel who you rated so highly, you were concerned England were lining up to pick him. What did you see in Swiel that convinced you he was going to be a test match warrior?

I know De Allende is one of your pet hates and your viewpoints on him is skewed as a result.  I for a while supported Van Rensburg and Esterhuizen = but both are wore than De Allende - so I stick wit the better all-round player.

Swiel I rated as a schoolboy - he vanished since he did not want to play Under 20 rugby for SA.  He then went to the Sharks - wrong choice because White can destroy any backline player and fom there to Harlequins.   Have not seen or written anything about him for years.

What did I see in him?  Ball sense and ball skills - something at the time basically not in evidence in SA halfback pairs.

SB

I am in agreement with most of your selection of duds, but would like to keep to Springboks.  I also would like to see which coaches were dumb enough to select the duds,

I would put Morne Steyn first at 10 - no reading of the game - never ever attacked the gain line -  an exceptionally poor defender  - a poor out-of-hand kicker,  Only asset kicking at goal.

I would put Alberts at 7 - he was no loosie at all and his list of reasons are even longer than Morne.

Taute never played at 12 for the Springboks - he played at 13.  The worst 12 and 13 ever playing for the Springboks was Juan de Jongh.   His speciality  in 2012 and subsequently was to go AWOL in matches.   Since he played at 12 in one test - I would add him as a 12 to your list,  Definitely worse than Taute.

So who picked the majority of the duds or the Springbok team?   It was Meyer - followed by Coetzee and De Villiers.

Perhaps this statement of your's might jog your memory: 07:44 Sharkbok I have been a Swiel fan since his school days and this kid has something I have not seen in any SA flyhalf for many years. He has - * massive ball sense - I call him the ball sense whiz kid - where he is better than Goosen and Lambie (who has ball sense bit to a smaller extent) and Morne Steyn ( ho has none of that quality); * speed - with an eye for a gap where there seems to be none; * the ability to create space for other players who can carry balls further - it is not the tries he scores himself that is all-important, it is the tries that he creates which is even of more importance; * the ability to kick at goal and virtually never misses a kick; and * the ability to take tackles without dieing with the ball; and * the ability to defend excellently. Whenever I see him playing I think how we miss at senior ranks a player that can really play the ball like he does. I have a feeling that Timo will be the Sharks flyhalf this year and I think that the following backline might be evolved by Jake White:- 15 Lambie 14 Mvovo 13 Whitehead 12 Jordaan 11 Marais 10 Swiel 9 Reinach When the Chiefs still think what will happen, the tries under the post would already have been scored and converted. All the above has amazing speed and are sound defenders - they all are clever players. Cannot find a place for the slow and dull Francois Steyn in that backline. When Swiel has created space for the backline - Steyn would kill the move by crashballing - or he would be nowhere in sight because of speed deficiency. Swiel is a dead cert for my fanatasy team selection - that is for sure.
