The 12 Meyer got wrong which ultimately lead to his downfall.

 

Investment in these 12 who were clearly not the best or even second best in their respective positions always left Meyers side short of a competitive edge. The majority of these players had it at one point but the emphasis is on HAD.

Our best players for some time have been our youngsters like Willie, Kriel, de Allende, Serfontein, Pollard, Lambie, Malherbe, Etzebeth, Lood and Coetzee. The only older players who added some value were Habana, JP, Beast, Bismark, Strauss, Schalk and Vermeulen.

 

Had the investment been in the following 12, Meyer would probably still be the coach

 Not all of those players were ready for Tests by the start of Meyer's tenure as coach, and players like Jean, Alberts, Louw and Du Preez were very much needed for certain years. 
Jean was brilliant in 2012 and 2013 but by 2014 Serfontein/De Allende should have started matches. 
Alberts was huge in 2012 but then has been awful ever since, Meyer was wrong in sticking with him after that. 
Louw has been good for the Boks, deserved his place there but has had a few iffy games as all players do. 
Du Preez' reinstatement into the Bok's has been fantastic and is just what we needed, the only downside was that he could only play during home tests because of his Japan contract. Had he been available for every test then we'd have been better off and most likely would have had a higher winning percentage.
The rest I'll agree with, on those who Meyer should have replaced.

I have rather have Jean Devilliers on crutches than the limited Jan Serfontein.

 Hougaard does not have the basic skills at a ruck to be a scrumhalf- particularly in slower conditions with more competitive breakdowns
For the most part some of these younger players- are just the latest cart horses of the conveyor belt. 
Of this bunch, the players that I would have considered realistic contenders for the 2015 Squad.

Kolbe-  Yes Certainly. Some unpredictability 

Senatla- Yes speed- and has potential. Also the right colour. 

Vorster- maybe, probably too green. Had a decent superXV but did not set the world alight

Hougaard- allready covered.

Faf de Klerk- Needs to be more consistent

Kitshoff-  Yes. 

Marcel v/d Merwe- Useless

Willemse- Yes

Jacques du Plessis- average player- 

Jaco Kriel- Yes

Arno Botha- As soon as this creatine junkey stands up he gets injured

CJ Stander- dream on

Kolbe... loved him at Junior level. I worry about him as an international 15

Permit me to ask you a serious question about Fourie du Preez.  What real contribution has Du Preez made to the Springbok team since he came back into the picture - bearing in mind that he only played in the following tests:
2013  -  4 tests2014  -  3 tests2015  -  Only tests in WC?
To my mind he was good in two tests in 2013 and dead average in two.  He could just not maintain top performance in successive weeks in 2013.  In 2014 he was injured and after that he played in three club matches early this year and was injured again with making his test appearances impossible.
Although he was better than the pathetic Ruan Pienaar in the WC - his performances was nothing that could be called good = maybe above average, nothing more.           

 CJ Stander has been the best Munster player for the past 2 years, he is not an 'average' player at all. Absolute quality. 
Whenever Du Preez has played our team has looked more fluid, relaxed and confident in their play. As I've said constantly he has a mind for rugby second to none and gives his flyhalf incredible amount of room and time to make decisions which is critical. 

 Of Sapp's list only Willemse, Kitshoff and Senatla have the physical talent to best the top NZ and Australian players. The rest are a tier down or two tiers down. This is another Sapp seuntjie dream.
And of the three that have the talent....I would still take the Beast ahead of Kitshoff.....Etzebeth ahead of Willemse.....and Habana ahead of Senatla. Not one of Sapp"s list would have helped save HM.
He was doomed by injuries to key players like JdV, Matfield and Vermeulen and an inferior class of youngsters who never produced the goods in a real practical sense.

 Matfield was BS and should never have been in the squad - end of story.  De Villiers should not have tried to come back from injury - he was poor in all the matches he played in.  
Vermeulen was the only player of substance among the three mentioned by you.

 Ag voeitog.....if Meyer was clueless with his selections then it's fair to say that ou Sapp and ou Mikey are equally clueless. It's also fair to say that forum coaches appear to know better but the reality is quite different.

Matfield ahead of Willemse - an insult......why on earth would Willemse replace Etzebeth, when you can play Willemse and Etzebeth together if you wished. Etzebeth like Lood, is just at home at 5.

The ball playing skilfull Jaco Kriel ahead of the average Louw is a no brainer......I could go on.
