Why no de Allende, why no JJ, why no Lappies.  Every day these questions are put on this site, and every day the conclusions are reached that the coach is stupid, timid, and ill informed.

Well they make mistakes. But they are mostly mistakes of commission....players the coaches have faith in, who can't cut it. Kirchner is a classical example. But many posters on here agreed on Kirchner....you know who you are.

Very rarely do coaches leave out players who can make a difference. Brussouw was such a player....maybe Willie for a while. But that was understandable, each of these players had potential flaws, sheer size in the case of Brussouw and playing style compatibility in Willie's case.

But I could list a whole team of players posters have demanded....who have failed.

Let's take the latest case Redlinghuis. For months now the call has been to drop Jannie and bring in Redlinghuis. So finally with Jannie hurt and Coenie marginal, in comes Redlinghuis. But in every scrum he was involved in the tighthead side was driven backwards....he was worse than Coenie. This guy will never be a great test prop

Opinions are fun, but some opinions count for more than others..

The fact that we lose doesn't mean the coach has made poor decisions. It's also up to the players....and the opposition. As we see in 7s, the S15 and in junior internationals. We probably do best relatively at test level.

But the top teams are very close, and we don't have an overwhelming talent advantage. Frankly even the Bargies run us close in aggregate and are better in many positions.

The why no's Mozart listed are apoll buggered up - since eprformance is not a norm according to his evaluation of players.
The why no's is inreality the following laxy or useless players:-
*    Willem Alberts, Pietersen, Matfield,  Hougaard.  Morne Steyn, Francois Steyn.  Gurthro Steenkamp, Mohoje
The moment you select the above player - you destory the team structire.   Alberts is no loosie - he cannot do 90% of the functions of a loosie.   Pietersen went in reverse gear pace--wise and is way to slow to be a wing.   Matfield is a joke in Tight 5 play and in his altest tests the number of line outs takes dwindeled drastically.   Hougaard was very poor in NH conditions and shwed up serious weaknesses.   Morne  Steyn is the poorest flyhalf we had in the past decade.   Francois Steyn is a disaster - just evaluarte his Super 15 stats - he is useless whether at center or flyyhalf.   Gurthro Steenkamp is a joke in bad taste.

Well if the coach was getting his selections right he would not have only won 55% of his tests against the major nations now would he? So implying our clown of a coach is getting his selections right is laughable.
Which clown would select Matfield over Willemse for instance?

As for Redelinghuis, can't say I have ever been a big fan of him or Dreyer. The impressive prop in the Lions set up is loose head v/d Merwe

You are making an excellent point - SA struggled badly ag ainst trams in the upper range on the World Log
Lets look at things objectively
All Blacks   1  win  - 5 lossesAustralia    4 wins -  2 lossesEngland   - 4 wins - 1 drawWales      - 5 wins -  1 winsFrance     - 1 winIreland    -  1 win     1 loss
The other teams we played are low-ranked in WR.   That eans 16 wins out of 26 played.   That is just npoot good epouvh.
Then there is the matches where we won by through serious luck.   Those include against Wales -  and virtually all other  top teams .  if   meyer's selections were correc t - would th at happen.?   My answer is NO -  he picked too many useles players who should not be anywhere near the team.

Yep and this year we lost to Oz, NZ, Wales and Ireland.....we played 9 matches against the top sides this year and won 5, losing 4......not nearly good enough.

And to think Moz wants us to believe that this clown is getting his selections right......geez, calling up the pathetically useless Ross Cronje as a 9 cover, was the icing on the cake this year........that selection about sums clueless Meyer up.

My 17 year old son is a better 9 than Cronje and I am not joking. My boy plays 10, but covers at 9

Actually Wales had a better backline. And Vermeulen excepted, better loosies. Nothing HM could do. I t was up players like Lambie to front....he didn't. The test more or less turned on Biggar completely outplaying Lambie.

Why concntrate on one lost match only and especialy your warped and prejudiced view of players.   If you look at the brader perspective -
*   Meyer's seection of geriatrics and especially Mafield and Bakkies Botha;  as well as*   the non-realization by Meyer that  performances of the geriatric in the slide,
are in essence is the reason for the downward slide in performances since last year.
the two major selections since the end of last year - that came into the picture since 2013 were the two players mentioned.
The simple-minded wuldcome up with aanswer like Lambie weakend the team - not seeing the broader sickness in the squad.   That is what makes youstarting story in this thread so ridiculous.

Lambie was very poor against Italy and worse against Wales...dead duck  passes, dropped balls, kickoffs into touch , kicks over the goal line, charged kicks , hospital passes, turnovers...and aimless running cost the Boks the initiative time and again.
Scariest of all, this small, slow chap now seems to think he is a running flyhalf. So time and again against Italy and the Poms we watched him charging the ramparts, only to see him smeared behind the advantage line . Lambie as a crashballer, can anything be more absurd.
The downward spiral, as I warned is already in evidence. There  is no way he will last the S15 if he continues to take the ball into traffic...either the body or the mind will snap. He needs to be moved back to 15.
And Reinacht needs serious remedial work on delivering his pass without stepping...which allows the defence to close the advantage line. Another serial hospital passer...it's frustrating to watch a runner with potential be so inept in an aspect that school boys execute without difficulty.
But having watched the painful Gocart saga, the endless turnings of the corner, the howls of victory when recalcitrant  HM " allowed him to play his natural physical game"....only to see him plunge into a dithering Edward Scissor Hands in the next game...having seen all that, I'm not betting that extra homework is going to change Reinacht into a fluid passer.

Lambie must not try and play a Butch James type of game. He is more like a Cruden but more physical - who isnt!
Its the coach not seeing the wood from the trees again. He wants his flyhalf to take the ball to the line but drops Pollard. Meyer is exasperating at times. Some disasterous picks this year. Poor squad development.

 Nozqart
Get your faxation on Lambie and  Reinach out of your thick skull.   The problem is you are npt dealing with the comprehensive issue here - but again with players you are prejudiced a gainst.
That prejudice is aboslute crap and the number of deficiencies you ascribed to the two players are b lown out of propoertion.   For instamnce Lambie in all tests played recently knocked on one ball  - suddenly he "dropped balls"  - He kicked on kick-off directly into touch - suddenly it becomes "kickoffs into touch".   You allege he made dead duck passes - but there is no evidence of that at all.    He did not have a good game against Ireland - but stick to facts when you criticze players.
Your other problem is that you have one norm for your favoured players and another for those you dislike.   When people prove how lousy Morne Steyn is generally and how many times he biuggered up - you defend him.  Same with Francois Steyn - who made 10 times more errors then any other center or fklyhalf made in 2014 - yet you want him in the Springbok team.
As to Reinach - is hos passing serive to the flyhalf - slower than that of Du Preez and Pienar?  The abnswer is no -= it is not.   First of all you claim his passing and kicking game was inaccurate - now you have to find another scarecrow.   Not working I am afraid.
However, that is not the problem in the   Springbok team.   The problem is much more related to the loss of forward dominance - especialy by foelding a defective tight 5 combination - and by lack of good balls for the backline to use.
You are ignoring the main problem here - and that is the deplorable selection of Meyer of player such as Steenkamp and Matfield.   That is why the team is going to pieces - end of story.

Ah so Meyer was forced to pick the likes of Mvovo and Hendricks on the wing, he was forced to select Jean at 12 and forced to play Serfontein out of position at 13. He was also forced to drop Pollard and Hougaard.
He was forced to pick liability Matfield and hardly the best 7 in Oupa.....yeah I can see how it's not Meyers fault....what a joke.

Meyer's selection is crazy and grossly incompetent - he lost the plot.   He picks players and even when the team wins - he panicks and make changes.
His selections always goes back to the players he is acquainted with - players like Steenkamp, Bakkies Botha and Matfield.   That is what is causing the radual breakdown of our forward domination.    Without competitiveness up front - the Sprngboks cannot really compete.
He also make weak selectiions like Mohoje and then sticks with them - further decreasing the competitiveness of the team.   The other issue is he does not evaluate the performances of aging players.   The bugger up or under-perform game after game - but are retained in the team.   Players like Pietersen and  Jannie du Plessis are examples of those.
Why were players like Morne Steyn, Bakkies Botha, Gruthro Steenkamp in the squad for the EOYT - when he never used Styeyn and only used Botha and  Steenamp for s hort periods coming off the bench?   They just make up numbers and leaves the squad in a serious state of player shortages in key positions.
Instread of devekloping a functional unit that compete's Meyer is selecting a hotchpotch of players who are discarded  before they can setablish themselves in the team.

Mozart never sees any real deficinecies in the team - he is just on his standard campaign against certain players - so do not expect a sensible response to our posts on the issue.

Dear me....Mozart is on his standard campaign against certain players says the OOM as he writes his umpteenth diatribe on Victor, Botha and Steenkamp. Hypocrisy isn't harsh enough to cover the utterances of this old provincial feeder at the trough. T here isnt one player who would make a difference who hasn't been tried. There isn't one player that's been dropped that didn't warrant being dropped.

There are real reasons for writing about the deficiencies of the players I criticize.   In your case oit is largely dreams that turn single incidents into plural ones - and goes into lengthy discussion of the deficiencies of t he playyers without much suntance other than prejudice.
"There isnt one player who would make a difference who hasn't been tried. There isn't one player that's been dropped that didn't warrant being dropped."

Most of those dropped should not have been selected in the first instance.   The others  you regard as being dropped are still in Meyer's squad.
What is more pertinent is that he keeps his pals in the team irrespective of what damage they do to the team - that is amajor concern in the case of Meyer.   The really deserving cases for dropping - like  Steenkamp and Morne Steyn - are still in the squad as welll
In the case of Meyer it is one step forwards and three steps back - the end resut is we still do not have a functional squad fpr the upcoming QC>   If he selected a squad of players and stuck with them - then the present disastrous situation would have been avoided.
I am not against dropping of non-performing players - but then the performance requirment should apply to all players not only some as the case is at present. .   .

There are holes in the Springbok team and that is a fact - whether you accept it or not.   These holes are at 14, 13, 9, 7, 5 and 3.
Instead of realizing that Pietersen has lost pace to an extend that he is not a wing anymore he tried out Hendricks - with te encessary pce - but clueless in defence.
Meyer thus far tried out 9 players in this position over three seasons - falling back on the slow and pedantic Fourie at the EOYT last year.   Fourie was uselss in attack - but resonable in defence.   Was hoping for Fourie to remain available - but the latter decided against it.
Is fiddling around with a number of scrummies - the top 2 way past their best.   Du Preez and Pienaar are both reputation players - who is not going to produce the goods.
His selections at 7 was a continuous joke sine the start.   Coetzee and the fill-in Burger was the ebst - the rest bad to atrocious.   Burger is iffy at times and games and Coetzee is an open-sider.
Matfied is a hug embarrassment as a lock - so-called line out champion who ducks and dives - making sure onlyhe minimum balls are called to him.
Jannie - is going backwards in performancs by leaps and bounds.
So 6 serious holes in the team.
" For the RWC we will play Sprinbok rugby...and be totally competitive"
As competitive as we were in 2011!!!!   With loss of forward domination!!!!!What a joke 9in bad tast e.
