SUMMARY
A match that came down to a hack and a bad reffing decision. The biggest let off in Wiese's career was the difference.
Pollard: Disappointed by his performance. He is a very good player, but was outplayed by Biggar and then comprehensively outclassed by Russell. Didn't dominate tactically as he did in the second test.
Reinach: His kicking and passing was actually better than Faf. My only gripe was how slow he was getting to rucks in the first half. He was one of the better Boks on the day.
Kolisi: Played his heart out in the first half. Not very much ball in hand but it in several massive hits in the first half, won a penalty and was physical backing runners with added grunt. The best test I have ever seen from him. Very unexpected.
Etzebeth: Was a mixed bag. Errors, penalties and the Lions had him largely under control.
De Allende: Was very weak on defence and went sideways on attack. Made a very good steal at the breakdown to alleviate considerable pressure, and went looking for the steal thereafter, but was bullied at the breakdown for the rest of the game. Offered nothing ball in hand as the Lions really outclassed the Boks on attack.
Am: Not his best test. Lots of errors and lapses in defence.
Mapimpi: Not to his usual high standards. Didn't really impact the game at all and was also found wanting on defence as the Boks strained to maintain their shape.
Kolbe: His best game of the series. Nothing especially fancy, but did his job.
Wiese: He looks raw. For the first time we saw some of his grunt. At times his was one of the most effective Boks, at others he was a liability. What a let off with the knock on preceding Kolbe's try! I'll be interested to see what he produces in the coming seasons. My conclusion is that this tour was far too much for him, too soon.
Nyakane: Looks to be our premier loosehead prop. There was a noticeable difference when he replaced the patchy Kitshoff.
Malherbe: Was very fortunate not to be penalised more often. Looks unfit and well off the pace. Belly flopped often. Not much outside of the scrum.

The ref dispute issue seemed to motivate Kolisi….he played with more intent in the last two tests.

Reinach had an issue with getting to the breakdown point when he first became a Bok. I’m surprised this hasn’t been coached out of him up north.

Agreed on Malherbe ….how those belly flops avoided sanction, when knees on the deck were being penalized is just another mystery of reffing the scrum.

Wiese looked like a card waiting to happen..he needs another year or two to mature.

…..

The Boks looked at sixes  and sevens when the Lions upped the pace towards the end of the half. Solved by starving the Lions of the ball for the first 15 minutes of the second half.

You two are typically nutcases anyway.   Your assessments are BS and showed that the Springboks actually lost the match.   Missed 70% of what actually happened..

I am not going into detail - but will add that Morne buggered up three times in the time he was on the field.   He deserved nothing more than 5 in the game.   He lost possession once.    This led to a penalty converted by the Lions although he himself was not the actual person penalized.     He lost possession once, missed one tackle and made none.   Came very near to donating a try to the Lions and made two possession handover kicks.

Malherbe's opponent was penalized twice in scrums - he never was.   So keep on imagining things that did not happen..

For the rest the BS followed in buckets.       .

Unfortunately ou Maaik, the way Pollard was kicking, we probably needed Morne to win that game.

"I am not going into detail"

Thankyou for sparing us. If you think the Boks played well in this game then you are ignorant and/or dishonest. That's a quick way to spot a plastic: A win and everyone gets an 8 or 9; a loss and everyone gets a 4 etc.

Read what I wrote about the gfame - it was aa terrible display fromn the Meyer/Coetzee era.  You rate  De Jager making 18 tackles missing 1 and 5  Mostert making 13 missing 4.    All four was missed open field tackles with potential disastrous consequences.

Oh - and then you say De Allende was tractoring.    Carry the ball 8 times and makinjg 45 meters are massive tractoring carrying the whole Lions team by himself.   .   So the two Lions center smade 39 meters in 15 carries -  a bit problematic to me.      By the way the two Lions centers made 9 tackles - De Allende made 9 on his won.

\Now dear Morne  - no carries - no meters made - no tackles made and he  got  a 7  rating because he converted two penalties.     The one penalty was difficult - the other  was so easy a matric pupil would have converted it.

I can go on and on - every ratng of yours were BS and my statement remained - the forwards missed Du Toit badly and the backline Faf.

Reference one dominant Lood run or tackle.

Reference one dominant Damian run out tackle.

Until you do, you know nothing. Ende.
