The Cheetahs - Jaguares game

To my mind the Cheetahs actually had a very good game and to lose by one point is not at all bad.  
The Jaguares has a very good team up front and with one exception the team who made a mess of the Springboks scrum did nothing tonight - matter of fact the scrumming of the Cheetahs was better than the Jaguares.
It showed clearly how really bad the Springbok scrumming was last year.
However, I still expect a lot from the Jaguares this year - they will have to get going in their forwards and give their backline good balls .

There were 8 tries scored so how much sleep did you need?   It was a flowing game and the Cheetahs performed much better in the game than the useless Hurricanes did in their game.  
I made a huge mistake in inclusing three Hurricanes players in my fantasy comp and three in the Cheetahs-Jaguares game.   Which three is likely to go first?  From what I have seen this morning the soft conference is the NZ one!!!!!!!  

 Cheetahs had some good moments, but let's be honest they were no match and vastly outclassed. Early intercept try against the run of play, penalty try from field position gained from another intercept of an almost certain Jaguares try, two tries scored while they were up by two men on the Jaguares. 
Jaguares are going to be fun to watch all season.
Cheetahs scrum looked surprisingly good. Coenie not missed.

 I still think the Jaguares are good - too many international players not to be.  However, their discipline was problematic and the penalty try was fully justified.  I do not think that Coenie is an acceptable scrummager anymore - the neck injuries caused him to go backwards.  However, he rarely played for the Cheetahs last season - so he had no real impact on the Cheetahs over the last two years.
Smith as coach brought through a lot of stidents from the Varsity Cup into the Cheetahs team and some of them seemed to be good prospects.
As stated previously - the fact that the Cheetahs scrummed so wellagainst the Jaguares is a real indictment of players the Springbok team used over the last two years as our props.  Jannie especially was sub-standard and Steenkamp as well.
I must agree with Dave here - Venter, De Jager and Rhule was very good in what they tried.
Maybe we under-rated the Cheetahs - I thought they would be beaten by at least 18 points.
