just how pathetic the performance of this anc governement has been. Please note the rand is sitting on 15.1893 today.Th3e decline in the rand anticpated by the investment community in South Africa so accurately has made me some very nice boodle.
Poor old plumpie doesnt seem to know the decline has happeneded every since his buddies in the anc took over. Note the rand value in 1994!(3.55)wee plumpie is not only an apologsit for the behaviour of muslims, he is also an apologist for the rotten anc . Birds of a feather they say. SOUTH AFRICA NEEDED FAR BETTER THAN THE APALLING ANC. 30 BILLION RAND A YEAR WASTED BY POOR GOVERNMENT PROCUREMENT SAID THE AUDITOR GENERAL. wee plumpie nevertheless thinks the anc has achieved wonders.
Bwahhahahahahahahahaha what a clown. There are still too many South Africans like poor plumpie who vote for the hapless anc regardless. Brainwashed, gullible and uninformed oaks who are canon fodder for lieing anc propaganda.
So poor ou plumpie the decline in the rand is not a sudden happening. The recent big drop is because your hero Zuma has fouled up yet again. Sorry if you think it most unkind to criticise the oak who no doubt is only doing his best (for himself that is)What a bent and twisted world plumpie lives in!!!Beeno once again attempting the set the very bent plumpie straight.

HasBeen you chart rather destroys your argument. The Rand declined to 20.3% of it's value in 1975, in the 20 years between 1975 and 1995 under the block head nationalists. Between 1995 and 2015 under the laughably incompetent ANC it only declined to 24.0 % of it's value in 95.
Your better argument is a tail winds/gold price argument. Deflated by the consumer price index Gold gained zippo between 1975 and 1995 going from 597 to 600 in 2015 dollars. But in the 20 years from 1995 to 2015, despite the recent plunge it went from 600 to 1076 in 2015 dollars.
The rise in real gold values plus the rise in like commodities in the 20 years of ANC rule was a big plus. The stagnation of gold and it's bed fellows doomed the Nationalists as much as any of the fairy stories RooiAAS reads in his school books.
The Nationalists were an outdated party, who governed incompetently and cruelly in many cases. But their demise was as much economic as it was a moral victory. Simply put if the Chinese boom had occurred 10 years earlier, the Nationalists would have fared far better economically and politically. Bread or the lack of bread on tables explains many revolutions.

DR Moz you forget one very salient point which I would have thought you would have factored in. The Nat government faced world wide sanctions. The rotten anc started with world wide acclaim and goodwill. It took monumental blunders to reduce the rand to this level. Any decent government could have made SA thrive given the countries immense resources.
T he decline from 3 to 15 says it all. A total disgrace.

Sanctions were part of the incompetence....and the effect was always exaggerated by those who wanted to take credit.

Not only did you exclude the effect of sanctions which really hurt Sa but the idea of a decline of around 1 to 3 equates to a decline of 3 to 15 with no sanctions is clearly not on.The anc have failed South Africa badly. A corrupt, self serving inefficient outfit.

Beeno, sanctions actually helped our economy a bit. We had to develop some crucial technology which helped alot after 1990, but sanctions hurt the rand and our economy badly from the mid 80's onward. If you go back a bit further to the 60's you'll see the rand was even stronger. We could have done better if the ANC was less corrupt and it is worse than ever under Zuma.. We've got great potential, but we need strong leadership in the ANC. Hopefully Ramaphosa does better. I can't see the DA taking over the government in the next 20 years.

Of course there are areas where sanctions can be of benefit but the overall effect is defintely negative.
Draad I am not hopeful than anybody can arise from that corrupt organisation and do a good job for SA. How can any honest person survive in such a toxic environment. Its possible we might get somebody better than Zuma but dont bank on it.

I would be so happy for SA if the government could be turned around. But looking at history which is the only way to predict a trend Africa has failed at all levels. Much as it pains me an wish it were not so SA is on the slippery slope and in my opinion now beyond the tipping point. The only hope is a new government but that would require democracy and accountability. Two words you don't find in the ANC manifesto.
