In typical Meyer fashion, when under pressure he gives the fans what they want to alleviate pressure. A futile course of action given that the fans will never admit they were wrong if the results don't follow. Take the RC where Meyer had the Boks play an overly committed attacking game with a three man fetching trio. The youngsters let the team down and a man at the centre of that was Damian. He now faces Somoa in what is effectively knockout rugby. Meyer obviously doesn't feel assured of the services of Kriel and is looking for a way to kick start the Bok attack whilst maintaining some semblance of line integrity. Not an easy thing to do under the circumstances. In my opinion Meyer has taken the easy route but not the best one, Morné and Pollard at 10 and 12 has the most chance to succeed. But here we are. It's Damian's greatest opportunity to make a statement and show us all, me in particular, what he is truly capable of. Great players come alive in big moments and there can be none greater than this.

Well I'll be cheering for Allende even though I have similar doubts about his defence. And if he pulls it off, unlike the barking dogs viz a viz the veterans...I'll give him credit.

I give credit where credit is due - I do not lie to discredit players.  I leave that entirely to you - you really are an expert in that.   If any of the vets deserve credit they will get it.  I have my doubts about all of the so- called vets though.

Our chance of losing on Saturday is 66% and the reason for that will solely be the sh!t unbalanced squad selected by Meyer in the first instance.   The projected loss will be the result of a malfunctional Tight 5 - being reduced to a Tight 4 by Matfield - and a totally disastrous loosie combination.
I hope I am wrong - but doubt it very  much.

Sorry - I did not respond to DA's BS - it is normally so distorted insofar as De Allende is concerned that any logical response is impossible.  Any loss on Saturday will not be because of De Allende - it would be - as was the case of Japan - the vets misfiring because of their physical inability to compete.

If Victoria and Jean perform to the level that is expected of them I will give credit without a problem whatsoever.  I do not want them to fail and would much rather grovel and beg forgiveness on this site, and anywhere else for that matter if these players in question excel. I don't say what I say about what I believe to be the has beens because I want to be proved correct and have the BOKS fail.I WANT THE BOKS TO WIN, but cant bring myself to believe Meyers selection can do it for us.

Shall I post the video again? You ran away from both the Aussie and Kiwi debate! Don't ever think I'll forget that.
@Mozart: Likewise, nothing makes me happier than seeing a player succeed. I don't dislike Damian, I hope he succeeds. Bok loses are never satisfying for me.

Nice humour Monster....but think about it this way:

1) This same group of players were within minutes of beating the ABs and Oz away.

2)  They lost to the Bargies at home playing just as badly and then came back and were dominant in BA.

3) The loss was in part due to complacency, arrogance which is bandied about is the wrong word.

4) The team accepted they were going to win.  They weren't out to destroy Japan, just win, test a few combinations and enjoy the WC vibe.  It was a mistake for the coaches not to sense this and adjust. It was a bigger mistake for the captains on the field not to raise the intensity.

5) Then Coenie gave them points and field position and suddenly the lead evaporated. Coenie screwed up and again and then losing became a possibility. Kriel flat choked, not even trying to make a whole hearted tackle. That's why he is gone.

So what happens next. The team is fired up, they take no chances with Fiji....we win big. And then all the lemmings sing a new song. It's group think....keep your own wits about you.

You know what is most funny? If Frans and Fourie or de Jongh were playing it would have been a win for us. Frans is hungry to dominate every opponent and Fourie is just a plain natural. de Jongh has been excelling with a sieve inside him all year. I would have preferred Hendricks too, maybe suspect against very physical players, but has a knack for scoring decisive tries in dire moments. I like players with that sense of luck, they bring that intangible quality that just seems to make things go your way in critical moments. We have too many players who cant turn a game around.

Moz,Don't you think that Meyer should have learn about the whole "Complacency" thing you mention? History tells us NO. Ok, so we're geared for this one and we're gonna smash it (I'm hopeful we will) and then Meyer can excuse himself with complacency and whatever against the Scots and Yanks??

Players who are molly cuddled by the media feel no pressure to perform and believe they are better than they really are. What they need is a kick up the backside. As we saw with the Jake fiasco at the Sharks, the media darlings don't like to have to work hard.

You did an evaluation of De Allende's performance in the Aussie test in June.  I checked out the time and occurrence in every case you stated and wrote out not the garbled and often misrepresented report by you - but what happened in every case you mentioned.   There was very little truth in your report.   Every description you gave of tackles made by De Allende was actually a lie on your part.   I wrote out ecavtly what happened in each case and posted it on this site.
You then pretended you did not see what I wrote on this site and since then kept on threatening to post a video - but never did.   What you should post is your original description and what my response was - but that will never happen, because you were caught out badly.  Be it as it may your comments on De Allende is so totally out of line with fact that one cannot help but wonder whether you are really interested in the truth.
The media is responsible for the sh!t selections of the squad by Meyer and he did nothing wrong acording to you.   There was indeed serious question marks raised by the media about the selection of some players - but not those that you habitually mentioned in your endless and mostly totally baseless criticism of them.  The real question marks were about players like Kirchner, De Villiers, Matfield and Alberts.   The first three were [pss poor on Saturday - the fourth one still suffer from a fat strain and did not make the match on Saturday and  will also not play this coming weekend.
I do not listen to the press on what they write - and of Meyer is foolish enough to listen to them then so be it. Meyer himself mentioned it and is clearly depending on reputation of players and never on performance.   That is the worst scenario to serve as a basis for selection.

Fox,Mate, I dont give a rats about what the media say or think. I watch the games with my own 2 eyes, I have them regularly checked and my vision I'm told is pretty good for my age.
So don't go pinning this all on Meyer, this is something that people such as yourself have had a hand in creating! And then the hype that Japanese rugby is soft and inferior.

Let me make myself clear I DID NOT HAVE ANY INVOLVEMENT IN RESURRECTING THE DEAD AS MEYER DID. HE HAS HAD 4 YEARS AND NOW HE'S HITTING THE PANIC BUTTON. WTF.
Foxie I'm sure you are a nice bloke but FM you come up with some pearlers.

Resurrecting the dead? Now why do you suppose Meyer went to old hands in the first place? Could it be the youngsters failed to deliver?
