The ;last game of Matfield?

The following from the match report of the match between Racing Metro and Northampton:-
"The Saints then suffered a disaster just before half-time when Victor Matfield, the 127-time capped Springbok lock, popped up in the centre with the line beckoning.

His telegraphed pass was picked off by Racing's France international full-back Brice Dulin, who raced away for a third try converted by Carter."

The match report indicated that Carter had a rather quiet game for Racing Metro because the Northampton forwards were over-powered by their opponents.   That is normal in any game Matfield reduces the Tight 5 to a Tight 4.   Huge mistake by the Saints signing him up as a lock.     

He actually cost us 14 points......he was horrendous; dropping balls, knocking on, giving that pass when we had the line beckoning for a much needed Try....the list goes on. It was really very poor indeed. But some of us aren't exactly surprised by it ! We're just pretty hacked off by the money men for opening the purse to buy him in the first place 

The only bright light shining for us is the fact we have seen the very last of wee matfiled 105 kg in the Bok jersey. Surely the weakest and poorest lock in the history of test rugby.

What is weird is how Mozart keep ignoring this thread.  His whole house of cards around Matfield collapsed during the past WC and he refused to accept it.   Now that he is shown up on club level he still refuses to accept it.   
We won't see too much about Matfield playing for the rest of the season - the Saints must have realized by now they waste money on a serious liability.        

 Well pleased to see that Greybeard did not disappoint us with his start in English rugby.As one of the greatest overrated players of all time.Thank the Lord that his career has now run its dismal course and is about to be closed down...........oh wait the Kings are looking for a flyhalf.??????????????????????

It's a shame but it happens with egotists all the time. A great boxer that stays too long
in the world's arenas...challenging the young up and coming, the old film star with a face-lift or 2 playing a man 20 years younger...the Chers and Tina Turners with long plastic legs and faces jiving around the stage like teen-agers.

Get old gracefully and accept it but be young in spirit and heart...don't deceive your self and don't feed your vanity...in the end you might deceive some but you can never deceive yourself!

I just don't know what possessed my lot to buy him He's been Sub a couple of times and been pretty poor but this was dreadful. Even in open play ( and we were struggling to win ball and gain ground ) he kept popping up and knocking on or simply dropping balls for no known reason. Was woeful  

He was utterly useless as he has been since his return to rugby - a massive liability on the field
