Wrong Rooi - the AB forwards were a spent force at the end, hence the space for the Lions to score the 2 tries at the end.


For once I agreed with Woodwards call who mirrored mine

Dave, how on earth do you know which call was right or wrong?

Maybe you're some kind of seer or fortune teller and you know for sure what would have happened in that game if he'd pulled a back instead of a forward but the rest of us have nothing to compare the options with so we will never know if the call was right or wrong.

What we did see is the All Blacks using backs in the scrums when necessary and keeping their noses ahead in the game for a heck of a lot longer than anyone expected . . . and to say they were tired at the end is not exactly a newsflash given they were down to 14 men.

I think they made the right call in keeping the backline numbers even and supplementing the set pieces where necessary and the fact that they nearly won the game despite playing more than half of it with 14 men vindicates Hansen's call.

 Some flankers fit in well in the backline, and some centers do OK on the side of the scrum...the coach should know what would work best...I would have kept Kaino on too.

 SBW has played on the side of the scrum but of course he was not available.   Others would have practiced but I can't believe ALB had much experience. Reid plays well in the backline as does A. Savea. Anyway, Hansen made his decision and they almost won the game. He could have been a genius but some would claim he ended up a clown.

Look if this red card came late in the game, you could perhaps have expected NZ to survive. They did brilliantly for much of the contest, actually maintaining their lead....the tactic worked fine. That tackle in the air call which is truly a miscarriage of justice, the only risk was to the tackler....and Cruden's ill advised, poorly executed cross kick ....killed their last chances of a famous win.
