To bring on one player, everyone in the backline changed position except left-wing and scrumhalf.
Nkosi left the field when Jantjies got onto the pitch, which meant AM shifted to right-wing.

Elton Jantjies lined up at 10 "sometimes", with Pollard at 12 and Delande at 13. Although sometimes Jantjies was lying deep near the fullback, with Pollard back at 10 and Delande at 12.

Elton looks to have matured as a player. Bit like Quade Cooper?

So many permanent conclusions taken from this game. When it was once and for all built on bluffing.

Well if it was bluffing, the Boks are great poker players too.

The second half was all about territory. New |Zealand lost the battle, and then went into their shells. At first, I thought they were being cautious, staying the hand from the forced long pass, but they weren't challenging the Boks as they did before and that was a mistake. We can't really say how well the rejigged functions from that game alone, as it wasn't about how well the backline functioned.

It's not only this game...Jantjies did very well when he started against Argie...in fact I can't recall a bad match from him under Rassie...Erasmus might have sorted out his software problem...hopefully he can do it for Willemse too.

This is pretty much true, but we haven't really had to lean heavily on Jantjies as a starter. His place kicking can ve poor, but Pollard is iffy there too. Jantjies' best performance under José is the Wellington test of 2018. He really went for it, running rampant. So too RG. At this point in time, with Esterhuizen not in the squad, I'd reckon the best 10-12 axis would be Jantjies-Pollard. They've already been trying to use Pollard at second receiver quite a bit, so not much of a gamble really. The number on the jersey and the utilization are two different things at this point.

Far from it. Bluffing once in a while is easy, building success on bluff is another story.

This bluff came at an extreme cost, it took a long path before maturing.

SA rugby have certainly not the tools to build themselves out on bluffing.

SA rugby are crushed by the emergency of the next game.

This championship was not a good one for SA rugby. They were driven by the necessity to save the face.

They approached their two games against NZ with that perspective, they wanted two results to keep pretending.

They got them, they provided material to keep the show going on.
