The team is listed under the Team selection thread.   However, I think there is one change of importance made and one change that should have been made to that team, namely -

*   congratulations to Andre Esterhuizen in his selection as inside center; and

*   I would have started with Thomas du Toit at 1 instead of Dale Chadwick.

The team still needs a real 13 and Jordaan's return is likely only in early April.   It is unfortunate that they persist with Murray in the critical no 13 position - he is bad news.

Balls -  Fisher has shown zero compared to Jordaan insofar as  actual performances are concerned.   However, Fisher should be in the team ahead of Murray.

Well given Jordaan has had a season or 3 to prove himself and done practically stuff all other than been exposed for being physically not up to the role, hardly surprising given he is just another de Jongh.......Fisher cant have proved himself as he is not being selected by the idiots at the Sharks.

He has more than proved himself for the Sharks U21 side and Jake White saw the value in the kid along with Esterhuizen.

Jordaan will NEVER make it for the simple reason that he is not big enough for a centre. He is a good player that should be playing wing

Sorry - but you are really talking tripe here.  Jordaan in the past two years did twice what JJ Engelbrecht did - and that is a fact.   Because in two years he missed two tackles, you - just like Mozart - make it out that his defense is deficient.
Both Engelbrecht and Jordaan had problems over the past two years.   Engelbrecht because he should play on the wing and not at center - where he is more suited and where he will be less effected by the Bulls style of backline play.   Jordaan because last year he had to play outside the piss-poor ball hogging Francois Steyn.
Let me be explicit.  Size in rugby is important - but if it is not part and parcel of ball sense and reading of the game, it is of zero importance.

Tyler Fisher is without a doubt the best outside centre at their disposal, he's better than Jordaan and Murray in most aspects of the game. It's a pity to also see Jack Wilson's talent being wasted, He's a better option than Ndungane. I don't know much about Paul Perez although I've heard that he is a brilliant sevens player who joined the Sharks, he could possibly be a better option on the wing as well.

Jerome
I have not seen enough if Fisher to reach any conclusions on his performances.   He played on Vodacom Cup level last year and those games were not televised.   He did not make the CC team after Jordaan's injury last year so his exposure was severely limited making it very hard to say how he would perform on higher level.
I have my doubts about whether he is better than Jordaan - but insofar as Murray is concerned he no doubt is a better player - a player must be very weak not to be better than Murray .
Where I do agree with you is about Ndungane.  He is getting past it and it is a pity that the Sharks selected him ahead of Wilson or Perez.   Maybe the Sharks want to bring in Wilson gradually - hence his selection on the bench.

Mike I know you know very little about the game.....but kindly point out exactly what Jordaan has done that is better than JJ.

Its not so much the fact that he missed a tackle or two, it was the manner in which Fruen ran straight over him. He just smashed him out of the way as if he was not there.......you just cant have that happening to your outside centre.....it happened because he is a little guy.

Get this into your thick skull, if de Jongh is not good enough in your eyes as a 13 what the hell makes Jordaan capable given they are both little pretenders?

Jerome...you are spot on Fisher is a gem of a player.......has twice the raw material to play 13 than little Jordaan or has been Murray have.

The Sharks are fools for overlooking him but I understand that given he missed most of last season, they want to ease him back through Vodacom Cup rugby.

Easy to counter that argument about Engelbrecht vs Jordaan.   For one thing Jordaan scored more than twice more tries on both Super 15 level and CC level than Engelbrecht did.   He made more line breaks on Super 15 level in 1 year than Engelbrecht did in 3 years and that while he played outside of Francois Steyn - whose reputation since 2012 is that he is a killer of backline play.   Engelbrecht's defense last year showed substantial improvement -  but in 2012 and 2013 it was not up to the standard of Jordaan's defense in in the two years mentioned.
All-round there can be no argument that Jordaan was more effective at 13 than Engelbrecht was on both Super 15 and CC levels.

Just one stat is necessary - since 2012 Engelbrecht scored a total of 3 tries on Super 15 level - Jordaan scored in less matches played 7 tries.  Comprehende?
The rest of the data needs some research and I do not have the time to do that now.   If you do insist I will do it later on.

Come now Dave
Neither does line breaks - try assists - missed tackle ratio's, etc?
Over a period of three years stats indicate performance tendencies of players - so I will spend some time to rake all the above up to see how JJ justifies your high rating of him.

If a guy scores a great solo try then yes that's great, it tells me skill was involved.....but if a guy receives a pass and falls over the line to score, that tells me nothing but looks good in the guys try scoring table.

Stats only tell me 20% of the story.......I judge players based on what I see and one thing I will NEVER change my mind about is Jordaan as a 13.

Modern rugby requires physical centres.....Jordaan is not even close......he will never make it as a centre, for he does not have the physical make up to play centre...much like de Jongh does not.......they are no different.

Pigheadedness makes you the same as some other members and does not work out.   If there are skilful tries scored Jordaan beats JJ by more than twice.
Look the problem with JJ is that he has a game-reading deficiency and lack of ball sense - that makes him too robotic to ever be a top center.   It does not count as much on the wing - so I still think he should play on the wing and not at center.

Mike you don't even bloody know what game reading is, let alone ball sense......Jordaan has good pace and a good step on him.....it ends there.

You clowns keep banging on about JJ being a wing but are too stupid to comprehend the fact that its been years since he played wing and there is a reason he plays 13 and keeps playing 13.

Here is a challenge for your rugby ignorance.....name a better display at 13 with ball in hand by a Bok than JJ's against NZ

Let me quote from what you said and see how it applies in practice:-
"Mike you don't even bloody know what game reading is, let alone ball sense......Jordaan has good pace and a good step on him.....it ends there."

I do according to you not know what game reading and ball sense is -  unfortunately  JJ knows less than I do about it - and that was proven through his deficient performances as a 13 over three years of playing.
Jordaan has a good pace and good step on him -  Engelbrecht has good pace, but no step on him.
Problem is that Engelbrecht has never adjusted his game - he was a wing and still plays like a wing,   Unfortunately the Bulls is not a good training ground for development of center play and he could perhaps made the adjustment if he went to another franchise with proper skill-enhancing capacity than the Bulls would ever have.   Engelbrecht is harming his own playing career by playing at center for the Bulls.
Engelbrecht played in two tests against the All Blacks - so which one are you referring to?  The Ellis Park test his performance was seriously questionable.

So now according to DomMike, JJ does not have a step on him and you want me to debate rugby with you? Seriously?

So DomMike, kindly with your rugby wisdom, enlighten us on how you conclude that JJ still plays like a wing....what about his play at centre has to reaching this informed conclusion that he is still playing like a wing and kindly point out what the likes of de Jongh, Murray, Frans Venter or Mapoe are doing that is different or leading you to believe that they are playing differently to JJ

Really chaps this is like arguing whether Bafana or Zumbabwe are the worst football team. Relative merit is meaningless in the context of two utterly useless centres.

Jordaan lost S15/2014......JJ lost RC/2013.

How the hell do you choose between that?

I am going to remain open minded on Esterhuizen though. Steppie has been so utterly invisible so far....and last week raised serious questions about de Allende's defence. So we can't afford to ignore even such a flawed player. Has his speed improved at all?

De Allende made a high tackle leading to a penalty - for Mozart that was a deadly sin.   His idea about centers are seriously flawed - his ideal center pairing is De Villiers and De Jongh.
Mozart is a miracle insofar as assessment of performances are concerned.   Lets take the case of Jordaan.   In the semi-final last year Jordaan messed up in defense when he missed a tackle on Reid - so according to Mozart he lost the SR last year.   It is of course utter balls.   The Sharks lost by 38-6 - so the try where Jordaan failed to tackle Reid made no difference to the outcome of the game - if that did not happen the Sharks would have lost the game anyway since they really put up a poor show as a team.
Now lets take the case of Engelbrecht.   Morne Steyn buggered up in defense constantly and that cost the Springboks one try when he missed a tackle on Ben Smith.   Second try of Messam resulted from the most stupid decision of Steyn I have seen in fifty years - instead of a relieving kick, he passed the ball 10 meters out from the  AB tryline and the ultimate result was the second Messam try.   In the case where he blamed Engelbrecht, De Villiers went out of line in defense and got stepped, Steyn slapped Barrett on his back apparently wishing him well on his way to scoring the try and Engelbrecht missed the tackle.   That resulted in Mozart assigning the blame solely to Engelbrecht - instead of assigning part of the blame to the other two players mentioned.   Again the AB's won by more than 7 points - so the illogical Mozart is at it again.
Back to our argument on Engelbrecht.  His main problem is that instead of aiming at the gap between defenders - he virtually always run straight at the first defender and gets tackled.   In doing that he shows no stepping ability and an inability to create space for players outside of him.  He has no off-loading abilities either and in virtually all cases backline moves end with him.   Because of that Engelbrecht does not create space for players outside of him and he does not create space for himself.  He is effectively the no 13 center with the fewest line breaks and least defenders beaten in any SA conference team.   The few tries he did score was when he happened to be on the near the touchline and effectively did the work of wing - not a center.

Well just a few facts for you chaps. De Allende made one of four tackle attempts last Saturday. The previous week he made 6 of 7 but that scarcely counts as he was up against the dud Bools' pair of centres. He had about an 80% ratio last year. He is not one of the better defenders. Frankly I was hoping he had improved, the numbers last week say no.

As for Jordaan losing the match, Mike attempts to make it sound like it was just another Saders try. It wasnt. The game was even up to that point....the scores were close to even. Read swatting off Jordaan changed the whole complexion of the game.

As for JJ's horrible performance against NZ that got him dropped, enough has been said. It wasn't Morne that overran the try scoring chance, isolated himself at the half, missed Savea up the wing just before another try and hit Barrett dead on only to be swatted for a try. That was JJ.

None of your favourites Step, JJ or Jordaan are even close to being WC winning centres.

So I ask again, any hope that Esterhuizen has improved the speed off the mark that led him to flanker duties?

When tripe counts for something it may be worth reading your contributions - of real value it is not.  A team losing 38-6 and you blame one player for the loss.   That showed how skewed your ideas are.
Who last year competed for the worse tackle stats in center positions?   It was Francois Steyn and Juan de Jongh - but not a word of that on this site.   The rest of the centers were all way below them in the missed tackle ratio.
Who buggered up worse in the backline since 2012?   Morne Steyn was the worse of those.  He was so bad that Meyer was forced to drop him in 2012.   Then came 2013 and he was back in with the failures in tests being ignored up to the very end,  but in 2014 the signs were clear.  He was poor in all the tests he played in and when he engineered the loss of the test in Perth - it was his final swansong in 2014.  But not a word about Morne Steyn from Mozart.
So what must we expect - Mozart is most faithful in his support of players he likes and their flops are constantly ignored.   The problem is he does not blame a player who caused a loss of a game by 1 point - but blames a single player when the team lost by 38-6.

17 min - TRY CRUSADERS! Kieran Read beats his man on the overlap and doesn't need any help from the winger as he runs in the opening try behind the posts. That was beautiful, he was running with real pace and power. 10-0

There you have it the Sharks had just launched a beautiful attack from inside their 22. And then Read runs over the little chap you are punting....it totally changed the game.
And clean up your act, no need to be boorish.

Lets analyse the following statement:-
"There you have it the Sharks had just launched a beautiful attack from inside their 22. And then Read runs over the little chap you are punting....it totally changed the game."

There was no beautiful attack from inside their 22 started from ion side their 22 by the Sharks immediately prior to Read's try - so where did you get that from?
What about the other four tries scored by the Crusaders -  all four also attributed to Jordaan?    The  Sharks never scored a try that game - there were two attacking moves initiated by Reinach and Lambie respectively - two other players you attacked also as being poor in that game - but both attacks did not result in any points scored by the Sharks.   Their only points consisted of two Lambie penalties.
So because Jordaan failed in a tackle attempt on Read that led to a try - he solely became responsible for the defeat.   What a joke.

" There was no beautiful attack"...gosh you are dim. Do you really think I would post that if I never had any evidence. Have you learned nothing?

13 min - A real shame for the Sharks as they decide to run the ball from their own touchline and carry the ball about 70-odd meters before losing the ball. It was beautiful flowing rugby that ended prematurely when it squirted out in the final tackle and resulted in a turnover.

Yes ou maaaikie Jordaan is a real talent and still only 23. He weighs in at 91 kg. Snapster needs to realise Fischer is 93 kg so his comments re size about these two players are a joke. (Per Offical sharks rugby website)Jordaan is a compact 180cm while Fischer is 189 cm.
If Jordaan can remain injury free it will be worth keeping an eye on him. He has real pace and skills and his defence is adequate.
JJ is 26 years old 95 kg and is a lanky 190cm. He is an easy target at center and lacks the ability to tackle hard or break a tackle. It is o bvious he would make a better wing. Bulle have done him no favours and have done much to mess up both JJ and Jan in different ways.

I will be happy to change my mind re JJ but only on perf ormance
