April Flyhalf Cell C Sharks 0 ......South Africa A contender
2. Ruan Combrinck Wing Emirates Lions 0...well deserved
3. Damian de Allende Centre DHL Stormers 13.....yes, but on reputation, he is bumbling out there
4. Lood de Jager Lock Toyota Cheetahs 19..... overrated  at the WC, looks worse now
5. Faf de Klerk Scrumhalf Emirates Lions 0.....brilliant game today
6. Pieter-Steph du Toit Lock DHL Stormers 8......doing well in Super rugby, need to see him in tests
7. Eben Etzebeth Lock DHL Stormers 44.....automatic
8. Nic Groom Scrumhalf DHL Stormers 0.....shows well in the stats, not really a test player.

9. Elton Jantjies Flyhalf Emirates Lions 2...injured, I guess that means April is in the Match squad
10. Steven Kitshoff Prop Bordeaux (France) 0......seems right, well deserved
11. Siya Kolisi Flank DHL Stormers 13....storming game today, can he stay involved in the tests.
12. Jaco Kriel Flank Emirates Lions 0......dominated Liggies, need to see him in tests
13. Jesse Kriel Centre Vodacom Bulls 11.....a pathetic drone out there, will lose matches
14. Patrick Lambie Flyhalf Cell C Sharks 50....automatic
15. Willie le Roux Fullback Cell C Sharks 34....still. Our best 15
16. Francois Louw Flank Bath (England) 43.....great in the WC semi.
17. Frans Malherbe Prop DHL Stormers 12.....no Marcel, seems to be conceding less penalties
18. Lionel Mapoe Centre Emirates Lions 1..... Smart player, not really test class
19. Bongi Mbonambi Hooker DHL Stormers 0.....should have been Marx
20. Tendai Mtawarira Prop Cell C Sharks 75.....yes but, is he still the Beast
21. Lwazi Mvovo Wing Cell C Sharks 15.... . why?
22. Sikhumbuzo Notshe Flank DHL Stormers .....why?
23. Scarra Ntubeni Hooker DHL Stormers 0.....why?
24. Trevor Nyakane Prop Vodacom Bulls 23.....a solid scrummager, not today
25. Rudy Paige Scrumhalf Vodacom Bulls 2....why?
26. JP Pietersen Wing Cell C Sharks 66....decent form, but so slow
27. Julian Redelinghuys Prop Emirates Lions 2.....not a good Bok experience, looks solid now.
28. Jan Serfontein Centre Vodacom Bulls 26.....a hopelessly sterile, slow centre
29. Adriaan Strauss Hooker Vodacom Bulls 54.....very poor today
30. Duane Vermeulen No 8 Toulon (France) 35.....automatic
31. Warren Whiteley No 8 Emirates Lions 3....superb today, deserves another shot.

This is a half baked squad, reflecting all the forces on the coach. Disappointing political choices, disappointing retention of failed players. There are not many game breakers missing but there were better choices in a lot of positions. I think Van Rensburg and Marx could be test players.....Stepfontein and Scarra clearly aren't.

Notable absences include the Marcel, Bismarck and Pienaar

Coaching the Boks is a hard job, this squad reflects that. Still the fact that crisp decisions haven't been made on Step, Kriel and Page is disappointing.

If this is the best we have the RC is a long shot. We have tremendous weakness at centre and nothing special on the wings. Teams rarely win with weak centres.

Actually, apart from a few names left out, I'm pleasantly surprised by his selection.
Yes there are a few players that are obvious quota picks, especially knowing full well that there are better options available but one will never have all your favourites named ... and I can live with that.
What does one do if you're trying to unite a nation as diverse as ours? It's difficult ... and quite honestly I think he's done rather well.
He could have selected guys like Juan De Jongh or Cheslin Kolbe but didn't.
He rewarded the ON FORM young talent ... and left chumps like Pienaar OUT!!
Haaaaaaaahahahahahaaaaa!!!
A positive start to his term as coach.
I think I've change my mind. I'm going to support this coach.

To be quite honest the squad selected by Coetzee is by some distance a far better squad than the Meyer disaster squad for the WC.

Time will tell, but I doubt it...we are delirious about a victory of one of our teams over another while our total against the Oz/NZ complex is way down on last year.

His squad is better than any useless Meyer came up with. He has retained the proven stars and rewarded many useless Meyer should have ages ago like Kitshoff, Combrink, Mapoe, Jantjies, Faf and Whiteley.
Good first squad....there is hope
