Tokkie and Amla and egg

'I would send Amla and Du Plessis to play provincial; cricket and only if they get over their betting vows get them back into the squad.   Van Zyl is NOT an opener -  he normally play franchise cricket as a middle order batter - hence my dewcision for him to move down in the batting order.
As to Amla - when he started off on international level - he was very, very poor.  He overcame that deficiency and became a top player.   In recent tests he got back to all the technical deficiencies he showed initially and they must get out of him or he will only go down.   I also think his captaincy ws damaging his playing abilities and making him captain was a mistake.'

And just to add a little Hollandaise sauce....FaF gets 50. Amla on the park for all but 8 minutes in three days...this looks like an Ostrich  egg omelette!

Always pretending to e wise after the fact.  After failing to score runs in 2015, Anla managed to score a very good score on an absolutely flat pitch where all the bowlers struggled.  So great achievement - Amla did well today - so what is new.   
I(t is only idiots like you who does not look at the present situation and only on reputation.  For me a player must produce the goods and Amla in 2015 did not produce the goods.  It is pure dishonesty on the part of those who pretend otherwise.      

 4 wickets in 2 days, of wich one was a runout...flat track indeed. I must say, this is the most tame I ever saw the Newlands track. The scorching heat will start having it's say soon though, but I still think we can get out of the pan in this test and I hope more of our decent bats get to build some confidence in the middle in this match. What's the verdict on Steyn and Philander for the next 2 tests?

 Moz, I'm not a fan of dropping a top class player out of s test side to find his feet again, but Amla and Faf were non performers for a year. Graeme took a lot more flack after only a few bad performances. Glad the boys are getting runs, but it's still a batting paradise and the Poms will be feeling the African sun's effects tonight. May they continue to suffer tomorrow. 

 Sure they were not in form. But even Dave got this right, Amla is a world class bat and you stay with him through form dips. Hell he is still ranked in the world top 10, and is also the captain. Dropping him was a moronic idea.

Amla didn't do much to correct his technique. I didn't watch today, but those of you that did could you please confirm if the commentators were lauding him for "leaving well"? Leaving well is what one has to do when your foot movement is lacking. Amla always leaves well when he is getting runs. Only play what is near you. Did England bowl around the wicket to him for any prolonged spell? That's what I'd do to Amla if he knuckles down. Bowl accross him.. On a sort of side note. My aunt knows Kepler Wessels as she is his neighbour and apparantly he reckons the Indian series was too long and the boys are drained. So maybe we are being a tad harsh on them and things seemnworse than they are. IE a tough Indian series with pitches prepared to suite the Indians, followed by a series where most of the guys are tired. Just a thought. Feel free to slate. On another side note, totally removed from the cricket. Went deep sea fishing in PE. Had no idea it was such an awesome thing to do. We caught yellow tails, muscle crackers, Romans, yellow bellies, miss lucies and some other randoms. River fishing sucks by comparison.

When it comes to any sport you are an absolute dud - basically the most unthinking idiot I have ever come across.   A drop in form lasting a year cannot be corrected in tests and the flat track of Newlands is no guarantee he is back in form,
Your stupidity in rugby is illustrated by your support of a string of players - Matfield, Fat Fransie and Fatter Alberts, as well as Morne Steyn, as well as a string of other duds - all outright failures way past their sell-by date.        
Watching the batting today was like watching paint dry.   Amla was leaving most balls alone and block out most others.  A few fours thrown in off really bad deliveries.   His technique still needs adjustment  back to what it was when he really fired,   I for one am not at all sure that on a normal track he is going to succeed,           

 Why don't you just cork up Tokkie...every time you open your mouth you put your foot in it. The track is the same for everybody.

Thanks for answering my question Mike. So he Amla was leaving well. You reckon he needs to go back to what he was doing when he was firing. Well, that us what he does when he is playing well. Leaves well, forces you to bowl at him and then picks you off.

 He left them well, but scored 150 runs at a rate faster than AB scored his  88. You have to love the way those runs piled up as he left the ball.

 Well Morefart it is quite obvious that it does not take much to meet your standard requirements to excel at anything.
If u for one minute think that the performance of the Protea players Faf and Baldie is in any way a great performance and a return to excellence plus match winning performances u are sadly lacking any concept of what sport is about.
Your acceptance of what is great is an example of a person who is academic and has no concept of class or skill relating to winning in sport.

Sorry guys, but i also think Amla did well and further, I also think it would not be a good idea to send him back to franchise cricket. Unlike Duminy and Faf, Amla would walk into any other international side. Yes, I agree that his captaincy is debatable, but no more so than the current coach and his job. And again, who else is there? AB is the only option and somehow that doesn't sit right with me. We are talking about a guy who averages above fifty and was out of form in 2015. We seem to have forgotten that massive amounts of runs and stability he provides normally. Name me any great player and I will show you ten to fifteen consecutive innings during his career where he was out of form and had a low average. It happens to everyone. Unlike Matfield and Co, Amla is a long way from being past it. Yes, he was dropped a couple of times during his 200 in this game but as we all know, sometimes one needs that bit of luck. For me, i say, give the guy some more time and see what he does. Talent and skill like that doesn't dissapear other than by age, and he still has a good few years in him. Again...Morkel's first over today was horrible. Balls down leg side, no balls, wide bouncers. I hate it. I hate it so dang much. Radaba was just as poor. Do we blame.them.or the coaches? I managed to watch all the SA overs this afternoon and there was a grand total of 4 good balls in those six or seven overs.

 Form is temporary, class is permanent & anyone with a test average of 50 plus is without doubt a quality batsman . Bravo Amla .

 Of course Amla did well...when personal bias is so strong that 200 runs is not performance we are dealing with lunacy.
