So just looking at the latest pool line ups and matches. It appears that SA has probably one the hardest routes to the final.

Leading up to the quarterfinals SA will have to compete agains

Ireland during the pool games

In pool A it is a match against the All Blacks and France. France have been doing really well of late, still a young team that could be peaking around the WC.

So for the boks, doesn't matter if they win or lose, they will have to face either France or NZ  in the quarterfinals.

Once they get past them then they are probably most like to play against Australia or Wales with a potential show down again against England.

I just don't know which team is better, Wales or Australia at this stage. I'm tipping Australia as they seem to have the right coach  and some good youngsters coming through

Ireland is not the team it used to be and they will start looking at a team without Sexton and with rather  dubious forward pack.   The chances are that SA will top that log and come up against the AB's whose ranking drop like lead after their recent showing,

We will have to wait and see how the Springboks perform against the Lions to get a real idea about the Springboks performances in 2023.

I do not foresee a major deterioration of the Springboks at the WC compared top their achievements in 2019  and the fact is that they would eb the tam to beat in 2023.    The WC is always tough - but the fact is that the only team that showed real improvement since 2019 is the French.

We will have to play what's in front of us...like in 2019...it is what it is.

It’s going to be a true test You have missed the fact that we have to play Scotland in the Pool as well Mike Ireland by then will have many new players on board and your take on their pack is utter rubbish They have two world class tighthead props and two world class locks in Ryan and Henderson They have class centres in Henshaw, Aki and Ringrose Stock Dale is a class wing They already have a replacement for Sexton and Murray

The seeding system of the tournament is a joke.
How can the defending champions and current IRB leader have to face either the All Blacks or the French in a quarter-final?
The best 4 teams should probably avoid each other in most cases until the semis; assuming all get to that stage.
The All Blacks are in a rebuilding phase and the weakest they have been in 20 years.
England needs some players to compliment what they have, maybe some more speed in the backline, or a power centre.

France is a favourite to win with a developing team.
