The game was interesting - since it was played according to two styles of Rugby - the Sharks playing a flowing format of rugby and a passing game impossible top contend with by Toulon - scoring a total of 5 tries against the three scored by Toulon. Toulon played the "stampkar" model. The signs was clear two of the three tries of Toulon stemmed from rolling mauls and the third was a penalty try when the Sharks tried to illegally prevent a try from a maul.
The best try of the evening was scored by Jordaan - showing what a serious detrimental impact Fat Fransie had on the Sharks backline. Esterhuizen also had a really top class game and so had Reinach. Lambie was tops as captain and ensured a flowing game - but he was unfortunately injured and came off.
As far as the Sharks team is concerned - Coenie Oosthuizen was really a serious problem as a prop giving away penalty after penalty and a serious liability for the Sharks. The Du Preez twins were outstanding as loosies and both of them scored tries as well.
This was a good start for the Sharks - but their are lots of improvement needed and the Sharks will have to show of improvement. Hope Lambie and Kleynhans's injuries are not serious - but I am afraid at least a month will be required for recovery.

Did Willie play and if he did how did he get on Mike?

APD
Willie did not play and his inclusion would have been more interesting. Even without him - the backline was impressive.

awesome stuff, glad to hear it was impressive! It will be a pleasant surprise if we manage to perform in super rugby, as I'd resigned myself to another year of failure

Great news! Beating Toulon is good. I don't think it was on TV here. It probably was not an A Toulon team.
Nice to hear about the backline performance, even without Willie Leroux

It definitely was not Toulon full team - their international players were obviously absent - but virtually all their foreign players did play - Habana was the Toulon captain. The way Jordaan beat three players - including Armitage was a a thing of beauty.
As I stated earlier the only disappointment was Coenie Oosthuizen - the rest of the team really performed well.

Coenie just gets worse and worse. I have said this before- he needs to move to scrumhalf because he can do anything better than Scrum as a tighthead. He may even be a better Balerina than a scrummager
