The Sharks rugby has been a fantastic brand for many years. They have the biggest amount of support in SA and have came very close in winning titles. However, what we saw over the last 5 or so years is the sudden decline of Sharks rugby. What you would also notice that the representation numbers were going up as well. Yet, they are not able to win any meaningful games. If you looked at the players that have left their shores, you can only ask yourself whether they have put transformation ahead of results.

Let's just look at the sharks players that have left and who they have been replaced by.

The Du Preez twins, not everyones favourites but got replaced by Pepsi and and Notche. But those guys man handled Noche and you need that mongrel.

Esterhuizen, Australian import

Vermeulen, another formers sharks player that is doing really well for Exeter chiefs.

But what they did instead to hide the fact that they were black washing team was to bring in big name springboks. Etzebeth, Kolisi, Bongi.

Am is a EP boy and as well as Mpimpi, but both are my merit players.

As for Pepsi, Fez, Noche. Pepsis is the only player that stands out but still not as effective against a big pack and in wet conditions.

Fassi has been blowing hot and cold but hugely talented.

Esterhuizen is another player that is shooting the lights out at Harlequins. I think him Am would probably be the best centre combo in club rugby, but they are both pushing close to 30 and that window is closing.

They've brought in OX who I think is there on merit too, but I'm not sure about Mchunu, the guy looks great and probably need to get some more game time.

So for me it is a combination of pushing affirmative action and poor talent management.

I only wonder of Plummers can rescue the team or whether he'll be gone in a year or two's time given the restrictions that he has to work with.

It has everything to do with the fact that the Sharks do not have a credible coach - Everitt was out of his depth and Powell was lost as a 15’s coach Buthelezi is a class act but needs to stick to playing 6 he is not physical enough for 8 Esterhuizen left but they acquired JVR Kolisi and Thomas are big losses

What did Kolisi actually bring to the Sharks?

Buthelezi is great as a flank but was moved to #8 you know why and to allow Captain to come into the side.

Transformation has zero to do with the slide in performance it is all about the lack of coaching and poor or zero game plan.

Stooges in charge.

If I was the sharks I would focus on bringing Esterhuizen and the Du Preez brothers back.

They haven't had a decent 8 for a long time.

I don't know why they got Tsesika when they hardly played him.

Also, having front line boks limit how effective they would be given that you lose them for the first 3 months of the season and also the mandatory resting period.

I can't believe they had Roos on their books. But I'm happy he ended up the Stormers.

But it proves that they are trying to blackwash the team but not holding on to those players that can make a difference.

So they ended in 8th position in the URC. Bombed out of the European championship and now have to play challenge cup. After spending all that money.

Agree on the coaches, but I think Plummers will find it really difficult next season.

I would focus on winning all the home games. Get rid of light weight forwards.

Have some mongrel in the backline.

RJVR can't play the whole season and get an injury at some moment.

I wouldn't even bother with the challenge cup. I'll just get the Currie cup coach and players to go play in that comp for development, but look to win the URC first before going for Europe.

SA also need to get a better travel schedule and learn from the Irish on squad management and culture

I agree on Tsituka, Kolisi also impressed me this season before his injury. He has definitely step up a gear over the last few years, but he is now heading to France.

But the Sharks need at least 5 solid players in the back row. Pepsi at 8 will not work, yes, he is probably better suited at 6 but he played 8 all his life.

So Imagine having Dan Dup Preeze, Jean Luke, Pepsi and Tsesuka in the match day team. I think their other loose forward is solid but a bit on the small side for me, James Venter is way to small and Dylan Richardson end up playing for Scotland, so he killed his chances of playing for the boys.

But that is my point, he should have had more games and been on the bok radar but had to play second fiddle to selections like Noche.

Pepsi is not an opensider yet and therefor they could have managed the players better.

If transformation kills the rest of SA rugby, then transformation would have achieved an honourable goal.
