An article is doing the rounds that SA and Argetina has teamed up and asked that the championship be moved to played at the same time as the 6 nations given that SA is now on a European Calendar.

That said, sounds like madness as we are now playing in the middle of summer.  One saving Grace has been that we played very few games in Feb and March.

I don't think it is a bad idea but how will it work?

We have 6 weeks to play 6 test matches? There will be no time for warm up games to clear out the cob webs.

I almost think that rugby should shift to time zone conferences instead

East: Aus, NZ, Jap, Fiji, Tonga, Samoa

Central 1st tier: Eng, Ireland, Fra, Wales, Scotland, SA,

Central 2nd tier: Italy, Romania, Georgia, Namibia, Russia, Spain)

Central 3rd tier: Kenya, Uganda, Portugal, Netherlands

----- Introduce promotion and relegation in this conference, 6th team gets relegated and the 1st team in 2 tier 2 gets promoted ----

West: Canada, USA, A rgetina, Urugua, Brazil

Argetina is a decent team but the USA is starting to put together a decent and sustainable professional league. Uruguay have played in previous world cups and so has Canada.

It will make travel and viewership so much easier.

A international comp can then be created based on these, so the top 3 of each conference can be drawn into a group and play one another.

Rugby is a highly political sport.

It could be read as a move from SA rugby to pressure the world of rugby and other members now that among the opposition, nations that depend on it want the 6Ns to be ring fenced.

A spread the mud strategy, dragging AU and NZ mainly in the dispute.

Whatever happens, some will get the shaft and that wont be SA rugby as too many are more concerned by the incoming SA rugby collapse than their own rugby union's best interests.
