"The FNB Varsity Cup match between UFS Shimlas and the Madibaz was disrupted on Monday night due to protest action.
Play had to be stoped 17 minutes into the first half, with the Shimlas leading 12-7.
“We have contingency plans in place for dealing with match interruptions,” says Duitser Bosman, Varsity Sports CEO.
“The possible disruption of matches due to pitch invasion by individuals and groups with other agendas on our campuses, was discussed at length at previous Varsity Cup board meetings. A decision was made to respect the challenges universities face. No special rules were put in place to deal with disruptions, as our current competition rules are sufficient,” adds Bosman.
The match resumed approximately an hour after the police and university security settled the situation and both teams agreed to continue with the match.

The question is what is wring at our Universities - there are total chaos at most of them. The above story is not the full story. During and after the match "protesters" ransacked the student housing hostels and attack White students on the campus. The Unioversity was then closed for two days to try and restore order.
It is clear that the objective of a substantial percentage of the students involved are not interested in studies - they are more interested in causing havoc at universities and I thought sport would not be targetted by the so-called students - most of whom has failed last year and do want an excuse to continue with their studies in violence this year.
It is indeed a tragedy that political hooliganism has taken over at our Universities - centers where study used to be the norm. It seems that the exact opposite is the norm nowadays. Those barbarians - who in some cases are not even students but political plants with the objective of ruining studies of other students - should be identified and banned from campuses.
The taxpayers are funding the universities - why should we get diminished returns because of the behaviour of hooligans?
