Warren Whiteley faced with a really tough drcision.

Must be a hard call for Warren...to either play for the Boks in the Irish series or for the Blitz Boks in light of the Olympics...a very personal one that only he can make.

He said at Stellenbosch :“It was an extremely difficult decision, possibly the toughest decision I have had to take in my rugby career,” said Whiteley during a break in training during the camp in Stellenbosch.

I felt that if I had gone to the Olympics I would have been turning my back on the Lions and on the players I have been fighting with and for over a long period of time,” he explained.

“It would have been a selfish decision on my part to go to the Olympics. But I can’t tell you that I don’t want to go to Rio, because I’d be lying. I wanted to be part of something special with an amazing group of players and a great culture at the Blitzboks, but the timing just isn’t right.”

In the meantime AC will be accessing the overseas players tomorrow to see the condition of their fitness for the Irish tests.

Maybe the ultimate decision will depend whether Duane Vermeulen is choosen or not.

Not easy...hope he makes the right one but on the other hand if you look at it objectively if he chooses Blitzsboks it certainly won't put paid to his future in Union.

Seems a hell of a nice bloke and a damn good leader...very unselfish which is fairly rare today...the markings of a true leader...coupled with his talent and skills in all aspects of the game.

 @Seb. Really. Loyalty exist in SA sport? Fat chance. There are too many examples. The hockey teams for the Olympics. Karate more recently. The ASA madhouse. The whole "transformation" debacle. You have guys playing their hearts out but if the numbers are stacked against you, you are stuffed. 

Loyalty is something you either got or have not...if you have not got it then you don't understand it.

Loyalty means a strong feeling of support or allegiance.

I was referring to Whitely...not SA sport, hockey and karate and if you could ask him that same question you would get his answer.

It also depends on what,whom you are loyal to.

Loyalty is an ingredient lacking in sport today... especially SA and in that context your right but that's a part of the problem.

Whitely is a rare find but that's why he's successful as a captain and leader.
