Watching the World Rugby Show on TV I was once again horrified by the low level Springbok rugby has been taken to in 2014.
We had the most experienced team ever fielded by our coach been beaten by Japan = with the experienced players buggering up the game comprehensively 0 like they have buggering up games in 2014 also.
Then we have a hoke of the coach selecting a WC squad on reputation with Zero regard to performance - the foolish selections of Matfield, Alberts, De Villiers (who never really recovered from the injury in the Wales test), Jannie du Plessis and a horrible list of rugby geriatrics was the worst selection of a squad ever in the history pf Sprigbok rugby. The main reason was that Meyer never bothered to build up a functional world cup squad and the end result was that there were some rookies in the squad because some of his standard selections were undermined by injuries and retirements.
The other deficiency was the re-introduction of the Bulls game of 2004 as a game plan for the WC campaign - a game plan that could only end up in disaster.
2015 was a rank disaster and the best thing which happened was that we got rid of the disastrous coaches that helped to destroy SA rugby - Meyer, Ludeke and Coetzee - we may yet enter the modern era of rugby and stop playing predictable "stampkar" rugby easily dealt with by our opponents.
Although there is no certainty as to the new national rugby coach and the politico's are causing untold damage - chances are that we will suffer again this year - but we cannot go lower than we did in 2014 and 2015. At least the dud coaches are gone and the reputation players are a thing of the past as well.
With proper rugby management and without the duds Meyer doted on - and so admired by some of our non-thinking members - at least there are hope for a better future then the miserable 2014 and 2015,
