Most Springbok teams in the professional era have been limited in using their backline, at least compared to a good All Black, or even Australian team (like 15 years ago...).
Many backline attacks are counter-attacks, rather than attacking from phase play.
Many of the SuperRugby teams have played a kick and chase game plan, and this has impacted on a conservative game plan by the Boks.
It is a chicken and egg scenario, that starts with poor coaching- the like of Noel Marais and Pote sub-human are far too conservative, so the players do not practise expansive rugby. Stick Matalatawhaever, should be replaced with a backline coach such as Steven Larkham etc.

We should have beaten NZ in the RC and the game in the WC saw us lose thanks to two costly individual errors
Fact is we are pretty much on par with NZ at the moment with this year being pretty defining as I think we have better players than NZ right now and if we take the confidence of the WC with us I expect us to have the edge over NZ this year but time will tell
It’s absolute bullshit that we don’t know what to do with the ball evidenced by our second half performance against Japan and our efforts in the final

Do you mean the kick ahead that AM regathered and Kolbe’s run off turnover ball? That’s your idea of constructive, self generated back play.
To me those are classical examples of exploiting mistakes

Yes and all the other attacks we launched that did not end up in tries - not every attack ends in a try.
The work to get the ball to Kolbe was excellent involving the man you don’t rate
Moz get a grip - with you it’s always about the lucky bounce here or the misfortune of the opposition when it comes to the Boks winning
Can you not just acknowledge they were bloody good and that Rassie is a class act, far superior to your pretender Jake that required class act Eddie to save him.
You don’t win WC, a RC and be the best side in the game not knowing what to do with the ball or relying on the bounce of the ball or the misfortune of the opposition.
Fact is I have been saying for years our players are the best in the business that our depth is considerable and that a good coach would prove that.

There is no way Nienaber would have been selected as head coach had Rassie left.
The guy has never coached a side before, but what he is, is Rassie’s right hand man and clearly the guy Rassie’s trusts to be the puppet he will be.
He will be the face while Rassie pulls the strings

Winning the World Cup and finishing 1st in the world is the equivalent of beating the All Blacks.
The Boks have wrestled the mantle from the All Blacks as the flagship of rugby -at least for the immediate term. Today the All Blacks and their fans are our bunnies.
Forget about the draw in New Zealand last year, or even the loss in the world cup which actually got the Boks a better draw to the final. Forget about the Boks also being defending 4 Nations champions, or the Boks almost beating the All Blacks twice last year. (Emptying the bench lost the game in the last 7 minutes).
The All Blacks have struggled against Rassie, from his first game against them where they were beaten in New Zealand for the first time in 10 years by a Bok team.

Beuaden Barrat is the danger man for the All Blacks. He is less effective from XV, but it is still enough to score tries out of nowhere.
If the All Blacks play a fullback that can kick for poles, having Barrat at 10 is probably a better option to maximise opportunities. The All Blacks can still win the game with 35% possession with Barrat at 10. He is even dangerous from first phase possession the opposition 22. He is not a reliable kicker so there has to be a specialist on the field.
Bigger Barrat Jordie could be a solid option to also take the kicking duties. He is the tallest All Black backline player ever - 6.6 foot or thereabouts. Or Damien Mckenzie at XV with some bigger wingers. Mckenzie is another live wire, his only weakness being he is small. Having Mckenzie and Barrat on the pitch together is going to result is lots of opportunities and finishes.
