Tournament with surprises.
The lack of genuity in SA team turned out embarassing even for the host. The huddle scene was skipped for SA from the quarter finals, in which they preferred to zoom in... on the referee.
Fiji huddles had a lot of human warmth in them, tv kept showing them, a sight on its own. AR and KE did well in that regard too.
SA players look like guns for hire, poised to answer the next money call, playing for scouts. The medal in that department goes to SA named Kok who has talent for acting.
Not sure if the team was made of the best of the best. Irrelevant since SA won the tournament. No patriotic feeling from that team. That is the lesson taught at Wellington.

Trad, I did not see any of the matches, but what are you on about? Are you trying to put a negative spin on our first tournament victory in Wellington in 15 years...and why?

SA 7 squad is an adequate ground to support the point made in the open letter.
The SA 7 squad must exhibit that patriotic motivation, honour referred to in the open letter.
Watching all the games with that idea in mind, it appeared that, despite fitting the criteria, SA squad displayed nothing like patriotic motivation, honour.
This turned so embarassing that the broadcaster tried to hide the lack to the audience, avoiding to show scenes exhibiting the lack and focusing on other squads that showed patriotic involvement (AR, KE, FI) or sometimes the referee.
That SA squad looked filled of players waiting for calls to negotiate deals over their performances.
The lesson taught by Wellington is that the bok emblem might be removed even when the best of the best are selected.
Winning brings no patriotic honour neither.
