What a strange game

Flattering score line would tell you the Highlanders thumped the Lions when in fact there was absolutely nothing between the sides.
Three redicoulously soft tries accounted for the score line.
First try with the grubber bouncing into the hands of the winger, second try being the quick line out take deep in their 22 and the 3rd being the intercept try.
Two very even sides...game could have gone either way had it not been for those 3 soft tries and the two the Lions did not get going over the line.
Strange game of rugby...frustrating to watch. If the Lions played the Highlanders next week they would probably beat them....there was nothing between the sides 

 The problem was that the second try was a problem since Smith stood on the line with part of his feet inside the playing field when he threw in the ball - and it was not noted by the ref or the linesman.   If they have checked it would have been a re-throw-in and not a try.
The game was also affected by the scrumming.  The Highlanders was allowed to scrum inwards and the Lions was then penalized.   However, I am not saying the Highlanders did not deserve their win because they played better rugby.   
I do not like the way the Lions played their props - they must start with their strongest props - not the back-up props.   The Cheetahs did the same and Ox Noche flopped badly.

Scrumming inwards is an old kiwi ruse when you have a down under ref offciating.Ou maaaikie the Lions were playing the wee h ighlanders
