What I> expected happened - Francois Steyn and JP Pietersen was substandard

It is not fair to start immediately playing players from Japan in your starting line-up - they are not at all ready for  Super 15.

Dave4 wrote earlier that Steyn would eat De Allende for breakfast.  The exact opposite happened - De Allende made Steyn looks like a fool that does not belong on a rugby field.   Quite frankly - there was a serious decline in the case of Steyn - he was poor in 2014 and if todays match is anything to go by - he would be disastrously hopeless this year.  Late tackles - being shrugged off in tackles by De Allende - absolute lack of penetration - wild passes  - all was there to see by everyone.   The above could not go unpunished through a game and he ended up with a yellow card.

The only thing Steyn was noticeable for was in his arguments with the referee and his totally disgusting applause of the crowd following his yellow card.   This ego-trip will cost the Sharks dearly in future.

The only thing I noticed about Pietersen being on the field of play was when he got penalized for a dangerous tackle on De Jongh and two cases where eh had to help Fransie to tackle De Allende - who brushed both of them off and had to be tackled by other players.

Indeed a bad show by Fransie and JP.  If they cannot do better -- the Sharks should do themselves a favour and send both back to Japan.
