in choosing to bat instead of bowl? Further evidence of a swinging ball on a fast strip clearly favoured the side bowling on D1.

A – Yeah, what’s up with that? I read an article yesterday that said the captain winning the toss in the last 22 tests in New Zealand has chosen to bowl first – that tells a story.

You’d have to be pretty brave as a captain to go against that. I saw a bit of grass on the pitch which makes me think they’ll be something in it for the seamers but I expect New Zealand to play two spinners against us so maybe they’ll be some turn, too.

Simple answer..
he saw the Kiwi teamsheet.
It had 2 spinners.
So he decided to bat first so that they dont have to face a spin duo in the last innings.

Brave but wise choice.
I think Faf is incredibly inspirational.
He has guts. He has the balls to make important calls.
And he doesnt look like he takes any sh1t.

Our best leaders have been Hansie and Graeme....
both har nosed "dont give a sh1t" kind of SAFFAS.
