Young players have to fight for their positions in the All Blacks.....look at Barrett. He wins the RC with a brilliant try, but is immediately slotted back  behind Cruden. Dagg waits for years. Fekitoa the most dangerous running 13 in the game waits behind Conrad Smith. None of these youngsters were anointed, they have to displace the incumbent.

But on the basis of less than half a S15, we have anointed Pollard. He has to play, he is a prodigious talent. Really? He is better than Bernard Foley who languishes on the bench behind perennial test failure Beale?

I think Pollard is the best of the young flyhalves. But has he really done enough to make him a certain pick at Bok 10? Will he really be improved by starting in these tough away tests? Gaffie wasnt improved, he was destroyed. So was Jantjies.

No other country seems to have our penchant for picking young players and letting them fail. It's a deadly cycle.

I can't fault Meyer. I think that he is putting a good team together and even though he has brought in some old heads, he is still backing the youngsters.
I think that he is building a great team that will last us going forward. I would give Polllard as many go's as possible. We have Morne and we know what we will get from him. There are 9 test left in this year and probably another 9 before the next world cup. Not to mention the grandslam at the end of the year that will be very hard considering all the rugby that the guys has played. I think that Meyer has asked that none of the boks play in the Currie Cup this year, if true, would be great. I would go as far as to say none of the core boks should play in the first 4 rounds of Super Rugby either or go on tour to Aus / NZ with their teams.
I think Meyer wants to win the Championship and he has learned from last year that you need bonus points. My pick for Saturday would be
1. Malherbe2. Bismark3. Beast4. Estebeth5. Lood6. Coetzee7. Louw8. Vermeulen9. Pienaar10. Pollard11. Habana12. De Villiers13. De Allende14. Hendriks15. Le Roux

mate im not saying start the kid i just said give him a shot against argentina at loftus. he is obvuously mornes understudy and i think meyer wanted to save mirne for the more demanding tests like he rotates strauss and bissie (though he has that one tge wrong way around) .  thats the stance i take on this.

If Morne in 2012 was not to blame - why did Meyer drop him then?   Morne was dropped immediately after the Dunedin test - where his performance was BS in capital letters and in fact called that by two NZ commentators.
The foul ups Morne made in the Eden Park and Ellis Park  tests were so blatant  I am surprised you did not see that - or better still failed to admit it.   I deal in facts not fiction - and that charge down kick on Saturday was typical of Morne.  That is the type of performance that puts Morne on the Stade Francais bench - he cost Stade Francais dearly during the past season in some games.
Meyer clearly recognized it as well - and since Morne was poor in the second Welsh test - preferred Pollard at flyhalf.   Good for Meyer - at least he realized what Morne is capable of.

Malherbe had one scrum last Saturday....and conceded one penalty. Lets keep this on Pollard but check out that scrum Corn ....he broke. Could have cost us the test win. I fear Malherbe would be destroyed by the Bargie pack.

Jannie was never lying face down in the mud after being snapped by the Bargie loosie. And this marshmallow Malherbe had Etzebeth, the strongest lock in the game, behind him. Pap.

Just another promising 10 thrown in the deep end.
Maybe it might have been alright if the weather was as predicted but what is wrong with a plan to have him come on in the second half? It would have been the more prudent choice. As it turned out the weather was crap, Meyer had the choice of starting Steyn and thus demoting Pollard (as Meyer had already named the team) or throwing Pollard to the wolves & hoping he could handle really bad conditions. Another promising 10 mis-handled. Probably he will be ok but it doesn't make the decision any better.

To read some oaks you would think Pollard had a bad day! Did the oaks see the numerous mistakes made by the players generally - on both sides. Jean said it was the worse conditions he had ever played in
Pollard is no fragile Gaffie for starters. Play Pollard against Argies with Morne on the bench.Locks Eben and Loodt.Do not start with Malherbe he needs to be eased in.
Question is should Whitely come into the picture. We should be playting running rugby against the Argies. Put him on the bench at least. Also start with Reinach. Lets rip Argies apart.
Morne and Pienaar will kick a lot of good ball away and will pose zero threat on attack. A backline of:Reinach, Pollard, Habana, Jean Allende, hemricks and Willie isa very dangerous one. Put in Whitely as afgast roving, linking number 8 and you will will be amazed at how dangerous te Boks become.Loose trio, Louw, Whiteley Vermuelen (7) ?
Beeno thing ahead of the  crowd.

You aren't thinking ahead of the crowd HasBeen, you are running with the childish sentiment that afflicts so many Bok fans. Reinach plus Pollard in Bargieland would be a disaster.

The following would be a disaster in Argentina:-
*   Morne  Steyn was one for the past two years and will be again if he is anywhere near the team
*   Bakkies Botha and Matfield are way past it and they would just be useless in Tight phases of play.
Hopefully Meyyer wiill spare us that one.  Just imagine Matfield up against Tomas Lamanini - that would ve a disaster for us.

Ag toggie - the 120  kgs strong Tomas up against the weak 106 kgs Matfield.   He would do what so many other players do - just push him aside and go on with the ball carry.   No match there - it will be entirely one-sided insofar as the locks are concerned..

I think Meyer gave the reason why he started with Pollard and because they prepared for a dry field, it was difficult to change the team (read Morne) at the eleventh hour.

Pollards' natural game is to receive the ball near or on the advantage line, and this fits well into playing running rugby. Morne however prefers to stand much deeper which helps with defence, but does not really promote running rugby.

Blikkies one small factoid I posted elsewhere....Pollard turned over 3 times as much ball per playing minute as any other starter on Saturday in both games . No team can afford that....he had to be subbed, he was just too jumpy. I'm sure on a dry field things would have been better. But these away games coming up in the RC are not going to promote equanimity.

morne never onlybstands deep he measures his depth and alignment thats the proper way to play 10. a guy who only stands shallow is an god damn idiot! but uf you stand shalliw you need a hell of a goid 12 or else it wont work. you neef a blindside wing coming in as well . a shalliw alignment is very reliant on angles of the 12, 13, 11 and 15. the problrm isnt morne its that our other backs dont run good lines they dont create options for our hakf backs and are so eady to reaf. every saffer who says 10 or morne is the provlem has shit floating through their skull.

Hell - but the trwo morons are talking shit again.   Mo(zart)eon on about man against boy.  In the case of Matfield it is grandfather against man and  has no success chance for grandfather  - he is too weak.
Bonzo the Ape
Morne is a poor flyhalf - he is clueless as to when to pass balls and when to run.  He was a disaster in 2012 in the RC and same in the tests against the AB's last year.  Morne is the same still - the flyhalf that his club would not start with - because he is clueless.   I think that if Morne plays on Saturday - he will bugger up again like he did n Argentina in 2012 and 2013.
Morne is a match loser not a match winner.   Has been proven over the past two years.  When the chips are down - Morne is sure to lose the plot.

ceradyne you have to help a brother out and tell me what morne did to piss ClevarMika off? an unrequited love? hahahaha!! Right now i have heard how morne is to blame for every test where anything goes wrong. i keep hearing about dunedin in 2012 even though the scores were tied at 8-8 when he left the field. these stooges dont know jack all about rugby thats the first problem but the bitter hatred of the guy is something far darker.

I really have no idea, Gonzo, but pissed off at Morne, he really is. We know that Safesex  is really a closet Morne fan. He has, after all - probably in an unguarded moment - listed Morne as one "of the best in the business. Ou Maaikie, though,................. he is a dark horse that one.

He just seem to have some sort of phobia about the guy. He has really gone to great lengths to prove just what a useless monster he is. He has really tried everything. From twisting the facts to manipulating it. He even went as lying as downright lying about him. Of course his defenders declared it as just a little misunderstanding but if you clearly analyse the whole PSG episode, you will see that  it was just another smear campaign that went horribly wrong for our friend ou Maaikie.

TBH, he tries similar tactics with all of his pet hates. He has done the exact same with Bakkies. Read this thread if you really want to have a good laugh:

Morne is one dimensional.

He stands too deep to get the backline away ... kicks everything away ... cant defend to save his life ... is known to crack under pressure ... is unreliable at the posts ...

Shall I carry on?

I'm afraid the poor dear is an average club player at best. Just not Bok material.

Gonzo, the key is to know what to search for . Unfortunately, if you haven't been on the site and don't know more or less what the lines of argument were, it makes it a bit difficult what to search for. For a general laugh and to read the most ludicrous arguments you just have to search for "Clevermike SARugby morne". You can replace "morne" with frans/steyn/alberts/victor/matfield/bakkies, etc. You can do the same with Rooinek, Beeno1, Clean Cut, etc.
