What went wrong with the Stormers today

Naas Botha said something very true today - namely that there are too many 6,7 and 8's playing flyhalf and that did not work out.   The Stormers got the ball and then the forwards mess up and try to make passes when the recipient is in a worse position than the passer.   This is the classical Meyer game plan and once again it has not worked out.
The Stormers has a number of weaknesses - today Kolbe was poor at full back and it is high time they think about moving him to scrummie.   Then there is the major problem the Stormers have with sub-standard loosies.      
Another problem was that Etzebeth was rushed into the team and was obviously not matchfit.   He was rather absent from the game.   
       

 Eben only played one half in case you didnt notice.Agree re Kolbe.Guys liike Carr and Kolisi are better brought on off the bench.

Huge problem with Steph moonlighting in the backline and being dominated by Snyman in the lineouts.

Not so . One lineout Steph lost he was higher than his oppoent and the error was the throw. Steph was the best lock on show.
Mallet saying neither flyhalf controlled the game

 Schalk got through a mountain of work. Other looses were poor - compare to Kirsten.

 Steph lost his throw twice....and lost the ball 3 times. He did some decent things, but also made many mistakes and cost the Stormers lots of field position. Too hyper.  Snyman was by far the dominant lock on the park

As per normal he lied without blushing about Du Toit moonlighting in the backline.  The only lock who never did work in the Tight 5 and was moonlighting in the backline was Matfield - so don't try and make the ridiculous statement that Du Toit is guilty of that.
Du Toit had to cover a lot of space because of sub-standard loosies of the Stormers and was the only Stormers forward who stood out on the field of play.   
You really are a nut case - sad to say.           

This was the most inept performance I have seen in some time. All the backline moves involved forwards, and the backs then had to clear the rucks. what a joke

Steph 3 turnovers, one unnecessary run into touch, two lineout losses. Six possession turnovers equals about 200 metres of territory lost....more than the Bools made all game.
The hype around Stephanie is so strong, nobody is willing to tell the truth. Snyman got through a mountain of real forward work, while Stephanie  was playing inside centre unsuccessfully.

I think we have found Victor's replacement. 

 Mozart you will notice that de Allende made 1 tackle, that probably is an improvement so one should stay postitive.

What you said above is the serious result of dementia.   And I doubt whether you really care to be honest at all about a player you hated for years now.  Why not give all the info - both positive and negative about the player.  I don't think a p[erson should really respond to your demented lies.

JW Allende was obviously stung by the criticism and he was powerful in the inside channel. I doubt he will ever learn to defend though.

He was ineffective ... all that running around ... all that effort ... for what?
Makes me think of my neighbours son's bike. It roars like a lion and one expects to see it move like greased lightning down the street. How disappointing when you find yourself able to keep up while taking the dog for a walk.
That I'm afraid is Schalk in a nutshell. So much fuss and bother ... yet toothless ... ineffective ... useless ...  

 Schalk was the one loosie who got stuck in. The other two 102 kg loosies were outgunned.The 120 kg Du Toit cannot be reasonably compared to that showpony the 105 kg wee matfiled. Hahahhahahahahaha man its to trediculous for words.  Steph is looking just great. Eben has a way to go to get match fit.
Too many small players in the Stormers side, forwards and backs. Its okay against lessor sides but wont work against good sides.

There is never a player who is making a bigger effort than Burger, but unfortunately his efforts are becoming less and less effective and even error-prone.   He is in a declining phase of his rugby career and the fact that the other two Stormers loosies are so ineffective makes life for Burger extremely difficult.   
That is a major problem for the Stormers and the fact that Etzebeth was not math fit yesterday made life very difficult for the few Stormers who actually played well.  
However, the Meyer idea of using forwards and not backline players first receivers of balls and not the flyhalf or another backline player - as happened yesterday in the case of both teams - did not find favour with Naas Botha, who in discussion during halftime said it was a disaster for both teams.   This was strengthened in what happened subsequently in the case of De Allende's try - and Naas also referred to the benefit of not having passes to forwards and effectively neitralize the backline completely.             

Kolisi was awful yesterday, played without any fire. It seems the only way to rev this guy up is to leave him festering on the bench. The Carr magic from 2 years ago seems to be all gone now....still he did comfortably maintain a gap on Step in the kick chase. 
Schalk still holds defenses well with his offloads and cleans up well around the park. He got the ball out of the faltering Stormers scrum quite effectively. But nobody is saying he had a great game, no Stormers forward had a great game.
The average  situation in the game statistically was the Stormers 5 metres outside the Bools 22....with the ball 63% of the time.
