Excellent, glad to hear Swiel did well, hopefully this will be a big year for him for the Sharks. Unfortunately I think he's eligible for England, I hope he isn't one that falls under the radar and we lose.

Didn't fit the 'Jack ball' game plan. Hopefully Brenden Venter and Gary Gold will be able to get the best out of him.

Jake does not like players with ball sense - so Swiel was not his cup of tea. A player must do exactly what Jake in advance told them what to do - he must not read games and decide himelf on options. That is why the clueless Francois Steyn was his hot favourite.

Have seen him in a few games for Quins now and he has looked good. Made one brilliant break that saw him fall centimeters short of the line.....ball was recycled and Quins scored.
His goal kicking has been up and down, but its ball in hand that is his strength.
Pat Howard has been good for Munster at centre and I read that he wants to stay there.....another potential sad loss thanks to useless Coetzee.

Saffex, the good thing is S, is that decent goal kicking technique can be taught whereas the vision, and ball in hand ability that he has can't. He's a real gem, I hope he fulfills his potential.

I can clearly remember the U21 WC final in Argentina - where Morne Steyn missed every kick at goal and nearly cost us the final. He improved his technique and ability to kick at goal through training. However as you so rightly said he could never be taught vision and ball in hand ability - that is a skill/ability that a player has or does not have.

Yeah I said from day one Swiel was a gem, a far far better 10 than Zielinga who has played at 10 ahead of Swiel at the Sharks.

Just seen this match. Frankly this is a rose tinted glasses version. Swiel came on and did nothing wrong....but he did nothing until the last move. And even there, the break was by another player, carried on by another and Swiel received the ball with a wide open line.
Learnings from this....much ado about nothing.

You are not even remotely understanding rugby. Swiel was in the right place at the right time to get the ball and score. That is showing ball sense and ball skills - playing clever rugby.
That is the kind of thing that players like Morne and Francois Steyn cannot do to save their lives.

Mike he ran next to the passer.....where else was he supposed to be? It was a perfectly normal situation. The hard work was done inside him. If anything he played an outside centre at the end of an overlap role. There is nothing here.....good or bad.

Still do not understand th baisc situation there, Swiel was in his normal position at flyhalf - the support line he ran took him to the poutside of the ball carrier. On thing a ball sense player knws how to do is running supporting lines. Average to poor flyhalfs - like the Steyn's would never score that try - because the y are clueless as to running supporting lines.
